Santo Domingo.- Although he affirmed not knowing them, the vice presidential candidate of Dominican Republic’s major opposition party (PRD), Luis Abinader figures in a photo with members of the campaign support group “Movimiento Nuevo Renacer con Papa” (movement new rebirth with papa), headed over by the extraditable alleged drug trafficker Oscar E. Rodriguez Cruz.
“Luis Abinader next to the Renacer boys” is the photo caption, with the smiling politician, in a picture album titled “Visit by the candidate Luis Abinader,” published July 10.
The photo taken from a Facebook account has the group’s name during a visit by Abinader to the sugar mill town of Consuelo, and shows local PRD offices and members of the movement stating, “there we were saying present."
Yesterday other PRD leaders also placed distance from the alleged drug trafficker’s organization, noting that they couldn’t have control over so many movements which surface to support a candidate.
Abinader defended Mejía and assured that the PRD’s leadership didn’t know Rodriguez. “The National Campaign Headquarters were neither linked to nor were anywhere close… we don’t know that case, there are thousands movements in the country.”
Repeat offender
The Presidency’s Antinarcotics Adviser on Tuesday accused former president Hipólito Mejía of repeat offender in getting involved with narcotics trafficker and affirmed that he was linked to convicted drug trafficker and ex Army Captain Quirino Paulino.
Marino Vinicio - Vincho- Castillo said the PRD named Paulino head of the PRD’s campaign in Elías Piña (west), adding that the situation was serious. “Look at what he (Mejía) has done. He named Quirino campaign coordinator for two provinces. He (Mejia) promoted him the day before he left (office).”

Nuria reveals the ARS of IDSS owes RD$ 250 million and has a deficit
The insurer contracted debts of more than 250 million pesos with clinics
This was revealed by Nuria Piera on hers program "Nuria-Journalistic investigation". In the story she stressed that despite the deficit of between 15 and 20 million pesos a month, the health authorities pay 40 million annually in advertising to inform how “well” things are going in the institution. This spending, of 3.3 million each month on media propaganda, is done to show case the "strengths" of an institution that’s on the verge of collapse.

The METRO is but a metaphor for everything that is wrong in DR. That fact that billions of dollars were "authorized” to this non- priority project at the expense of the education of millions, at the expense of the health care of millions, at the expense of the housing needs for millions , at the expense of the safety and security of millions, purely and simply to guarantee Lie-onel's reelection, is a historical outrage.
If it was Balaguer’s era (the real Balaguer not the neo-Balaguer we have now) I would be writing just as passionately about the Faro a Colon .
Although, you and many other regulars here at DT may feel I take issue with this criminal project quite too often, remember there are new people that enter this site every day that are influenced by the worldwide multimillion dollar daily propaganda machine used to project Lie-onel as the messiah.

So when they come here they have a much distorted view of who Lie-onel he really is and what damage he has really done to the Dominican society for generations to come. Then on top of that you have the local purple spin masters that manufacture a reality here on DT that does not exist for the vast majority of Dominicans, like their dear all-inclusive resorts. Therefore, I feel this must be challenged 24/7 to try and level the field a little bit.
However, my sincere friend, I take all noble suggestions and critiques, if not in to practice, at least to heart!
