NEW YORK.- Hundreds of Dominicans marched 11 miles from Upper Manhattan to the financial district to support to the Occupy Wall Street movement Monday morning and included State senator Adriano Espaillat, an assemblyman Guillermo Linares and councilman Ydanis Rodriguez,.

Dozens of senior citizens, adolescents, adults and children joined by union leaders and representatives of various local entities went support the spreading movement, marching to the beat of drums and bugles.

The Dominicans were helped by mild temperature and a sunny sky, where a giant flag waved with the words “We are 99%,” in support of “Occupy Wall Street.”

Many Afro-American activists joined the march, including Columbia University students, organized under the motto, “End to End the 99%,” in reference to the protest staged from both ends of Manhattan,.

The march began shortly before 11am at the corner of 181 St. and St. Nicholas Av., the heart of the district with the highest number of Dominicans outside their country.

One went towards the South, escorted by police patrol crafts in vehicles, motorcycles and on foot, that maintained the demonstrators to stay walking by the sidewalks. Carlos Goatherd drummer  a band and resident in Sunset Park (Brooklyn) said that for him, the march was very important, since it represented the Hispanic community. “We are a minority in the United States”, added the musician.

“We’ve been oppressed for years and we continue living in poverty, today we have the opportunity to protest together with the Occupy Wall Street movement for those living conditions,” said the drummer Carlos Cabrera.

there is no central message, Ricardolito. there are just too many issues to have a central focus. the main issue is that a bunch of greedy rat bastards are trashing the planet in every way they can, environmentally, socially, financially, emotionally, psychologically, and any other thing you can name. it is time someone took a stand, and i am glad they did. kudos to all Dominicans who are on the line for something.

Ricky, the message is one: stop stealing our money. Hedge funds managers gamble our money like if was a casino, but they never put their own money on the line. Have you seen the kind of commision these people make with our on money? LORD HAVE MERCY OF US ALL.

Ain't it funny bringing these socialist ideas to a free country, then running for office like you are back in DR.?

DONT BE SILENT, we are on the same page. when 1% of the population owns over 50% of all the wealth in the stock market, it is time for all decent people to take a stand. that is, of course, if they can get on their feet, since many are living below the poverty line.

Ending The Divine Right of Bankers

"The bank mania... is raising up a moneyed aristocracy in our country which has already set the government at defiance, and although forced at length to yield a little on this first essay of their strength, their principles are unyielded and unyielding. These have taken deep root in the hearts of that class from which our legislators are drawn ... and thus those whom the Constitution had placed as guards to its portals, are sophisticated or suborned from their duties."

End-Bonuses-For-Bankers

"Critics like the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators decry the bonus system for its lack of fairness and its contribution to widening inequality. But the greater problem is that it provides an incentive to take risks. The asymmetric nature of the bonus (an incentive for success without a corresponding disincentive for failure) causes hidden risks to accumulate in the financial system and become a catalyst for disaster.

"This violates the fundamental rules of capitalism; Adam Smith himself was wary of the effect of limiting liability, a bedrock principle of the modern corporation."

anthonyc I am sure you remember Adam Smith?

Written by: josean, 8 Nov 2011 9:02 PM
From: United States, Fighting the Dictatorship of the Narco PLD Mafia; Guillermo Moreno President 2016

"Bonuses are particularly dangerous because they invite bankers to game the system by hiding the risks of rare and hard-to-predict but consequential blow-ups, which I have called “black swan” events. The meltdown in the United States subprime mortgage market, which set off the global financial crisis, is only the latest example of such disasters.

Consider that we trust military and homeland security personnel with our lives, yet we don’t give them lavish bonuses. They get promotions and the honor of a job well done if they succeed, and the severe disincentive of shame if they fail. For bankers, it is the opposite: a bonus if they make short-term profits and a bailout if they go bust. The question of talent is a red herring: Having worked with both groups, I can tell you that military and security people are not only more careful about safety, but also have far greater technical skill, than bankers."

"The ancients were fully aware of this upside-without-downside asymmetry, and they built simple rules in response. Nearly 4,000 years ago, Hammurabi’s code specified this: “If a builder builds a house for a man and does not make its construction firm, and the house which he has built collapses and causes the death of the owner of the house, that builder shall be put to death.”

i do not wish to hear any analysis by a guy with the brain of an extinct bird. thanks for a great article. hey, it is just so interesting how all these right wing capitalists are foaming at the mouth because the protesters are planning to shut things down if concessions are not made? is that not exactly what Wall Street did? threaten to shut down everything, unless it got its bailouts? it just did it in a more clandestine, secret fashion, but the intent was the same. anthonyc bawls about taxes on the productive. 37 of the biggest firms in the USA paid NO TAXES last year. none..yet, they benefit from the taxpayers money. their CEOs, and everyday employees, drive on the roads. they get police protection. if the building goes on fire, the fire department responds. if the personnel manager has a heart attack, EMS ambulances, and the fire department, show up. who should pay for that? anthonyc thinks that as long as you are wealthy, you should not have to. only little people should pay taxes

I knew a lot of people who were victims of the vile Bernie Madoff, Every single one of them was a screaming Limousine Liberal who's arrogance refused to let them even consider that a fellow Democrat would screw them over,
But Dready is quick to use Madoff as an example of the excess of capitalism and the corruption of the Right. When in fact Madoff was the exact opposite of what the free market is all about. He was a liar and a thief who committed fraud on a massive scale. Something that is against the most basic of tenets of the free market.
So now I will wait for another personal insult from our resident "I feel their Pain" wannabee, man of the people.

this is coming from a moron who did not graduate grade school. he keeps on blathering about the ¨free market¨, yet he cannot explain what it is. there is no such thing as a free market, because there are ASYMMETRIES of power. the people who own capital make the rules. i cannot tell a company what to pay me. they make the pay scale. if i do not like it, they will pack up and go to Cambodia. that happened in Puerto Rico, where a factory closed down over a weekend, with no notice to the employees. ask people in the DR about Americall, which closed down, stiffing all the employess of their liquidation money. a free market is only free if you own the capital. if you are labor, no such situation exists. if anthonyc had a brain, maybe he could understand these things. the intelligent readers here do. sadly, he was born mindless.

Wall streets has been a place of suffering since the beginning :

- Wall Street started as a slave market, then they started selling the ouput of slavery : Cotton.

Anyway these SOB will have no mercy upon us/ and all mankind, they're greedy ,selfish and criminals. we're their slaves , but the chains are debt !

Anyone of us could :

- lost his job, then the vampires fall down on your back ( mortgage etc)
- lost all his savings ( like in 1929)
- Die of hunger : these MF also speculate on the commodity markets (rice, wheat etc) and Producers in the 1/3 are bankrupt or the consumers in the 1/3 can't afford to pay the price (Famines)

The most sad , they are few and they controlled all humanity : JP Morgan , Rothschild , Goldman & sachs , Rockefellers etc

Have you noticed guys that some banks never knew Bankruptcy in their history even during hard crisis like 1929 or the Subprimes ???

Just afford what you can pay or the system will eat you up !

I for one, am a U.S. Armed Forces Veteran, and once swore to defend this nation from enemies foreign and domestic when I enlisted way back then.
