Santo Domingo. - The global crisis has flattened the beer market’s growth rate here and abroad, said Dominican National Brewery (CND) president Franklin Leon, who revealed a climb of barely 4% locally this year while exports fell 3%.

Speaking to announce the launch of the Brewery’s new nonalcoholic beer Brisa, (Breeze), Leon said its first ever produced in the country, which aims to satisfy a demand for such a beverage, which he affirms will be preferred by 18% of the population.

The business leader said the difficult economic situation has been felt the most in Florida, the biggest market for Dominican beer.

“It has been felt in Florida more than in the north, where the sales are higher that those of that state in the United States.”

there is a market for this. not everyone is so superficial that they need a buzz to relax or have a good time. some just like the taste of beer without the drug. I don't think the major breweries of the world would have their own non-alcoholic label for years if it wasn't profitable.

I knew it, I knew it...................Its got to be the end of the world. What other explanation is there ?

It is end day prophecy that during the last days, few will be prepared for what will take the DR by an overwhelming suprise, the DR is actually brewing "near beer." Who in their right mind would have predicted such an aberration unless you were a prophet.

Beer, like colors and styles, is an individual thing. Some actually like near- beer others enjoy lagers, pilsners or ales.
I've been around a while, though, and had a chance to sample a few, including O'dowlls, a non-alcoholic brew. However, for me, nothing beats Presidente. Not the pee that's sold here, but the frosty ones sold at any colmado in DR....Yummy!
