Santo Domingo.- Opposition PRD party leader Tony Rutinel was arrested last night and charged with battery against Leidy Dayanara Caraballo, mother of one of his children.

The politician is the third prominent figure to be detained in as many weeks for gender violence, after the baseball player Willy Aybar two weeks ago, and the former head of the Antinarcotics Agency, Ivan Peña Castillo earlier this week.

Rutinel, ex senator of Santo Domingo province was arrested by Aracelis Peralta, coordinator of the National District Prosecutor’s Gender Violence Assistance Unit and was placed in a cell in the Ciudad Nueva Courthouse’s 4th floor jail.

Rutinel said the woman who accuses him suffers from psychiatric ailments which he didn’t specify.

SHAME on you, low lifer! I hate FN bullies. Rutinel and all other women and children abusers should be placed in irons and sent to jail.
What great role models these people are for our society.
Would this still happen if we all voted for Presidente Light?

Without taking any sides, I have also witnessed some bitter women strike against a former partner, or ones with marriage on the rocks, with dubious accusations, just to harass and intimidate, and maybe pressure for monetary gain, with lies and machinations.
I condemn marital abuse by men more than anyone, but some reckless women are abusing their position as weaker sex, with outright fabrications, just to produce incarceration as a bullying tool.

My friend Generoso,

Generous as usual!

Agreed, but a stronger man should never hit a woman or a child! Point to the line.
There is always a way out of an arguement without resorting to abuse. Walk-off and go see your mistress, or go wack-off some steam or something!

Here, the fact remains that some people will vote for this looser, and I think that he is a poor role model, blaming his violence on psychiatric issues of this woman that are most likely false.
My ex was some crazy, but I never hit her for no reason!
I took some slaps, but I actually enjoyed those! Lol

1. He has been accused, not proven to have abused her.
2. His story of her having psychiatric issues is not far fetched. Any one who knows Dominican women knows that they get hysterical. And many do likely have undiagnosed mental/emotional issues. I am talking from personal experience.
3. A man should never hit a woman, unless that woman is hitting him.

Easier said than done, I had some experience with a woman that wanted to trim my wings a good bit. She bruised 'herself' up and said I'd done it. Tried again and again to get me pissed off enough to belt her. Stole clothes, things from the house and most crippling to a business man my cell phone - no a lot of these women are not the type to mount on a pedestal - better not mounted at all. Attacked me and bit me like a pit bull on more than one occasion, a sharp rap to the solar plexus is good to get release of arm also no marks. Got a bad one; plan the separation with care and cunning - but cut loose. They study novellas like blueprints.

All of this "Violencia contra la mujer" nonsense is all being prompted by US agencies. They want to export their feminazi ideology into the DR to destroy the social fabric as has been successfully done in the US.

This is all done to destroy the family by trying to convince women that men are their enemy and to encourage women to enlist government to help destroy men.

Its bull.

The PRD should immediately suspend him from any positions he holds or official functions he performs for the party.

Mr. Vargas and Mr. Mejia should ensure that he is given the presumption of innocence, but should speak out boldly demanding he be investigate like any other citizen without special privileges or prejudices in full transparency.

Give the overwhelming advantage of power and privilege most men hold in most societies historically, especially in DR, the moral benefit of the doubt should be given to women!

Well said Josean,
I detest bullies, and no matter what, violence towards women or children is NEVER justified. I love to take-on women beaters. They are the lowest in the gene pool.

But in the end, the law needs to be served equally for everyone, and regardless who commits the assault in a couple, the one using the violence should go to jail.

Some people have to move-on past the macho 1950s mentality, and learn to respect women as people, and not property. Thi society needs to better protect women and children!

In my books, someone that attacks a weaker person is a bully; and I hate bullies. A real man does not need to bully anyone. Self defence is always an option but walking away is always the best.

Just more detritus in the wake of Attorney General Holder's visit.

Pulling the mattress files on the baddies he told Leonel to get rid of, then hanging them with the least of their raps in order to comply with the General. But this one sure helps the campaign.
