Santo Domingo.- The Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESA) seized 20 suitcases filled with a drug in the the La Romana International Airport (east), reportedly headed to Belgium.
The drug was handed over to the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) to determine its weight and type.
CESA PR department director Fidel Sanchez provided the information.
DNCD president Rolando Rosado revealed that 15 people are being questioned in the case, various members of security agencies among them.

It's come to the point where, on daily basis, you don't wonder whether, but where, how much and who.
20 suitcases? Look for the customs man on the take in Belgium.

Wow another big load caught. Something has changed recently. Notice nobody is being arrested in these cases. A lot of people are going to die though. Thats a lot of money lost recently and the cartels are not going to be happy. Someone will be blamed for all these losses lately.

drop in the bucket ! they cartels have found a easy way to move the drugs to Europe and the US and have spent money on bribes to insure the product is safely placed on the aircraft. The destination of Belgium must also have people there to move the product from the aircraft thru customs

danny00-What is your beef with the DR?
Everything that spurts out of your mouth is nothing but negative. Why don't you blame and attach greater responsibility to the producers and consumers as the biggest culprits. The DR is just a transfer point between the two, but you conveniently forgot to mention that.
What exactly is your hidden agenda? What is this all about?
Just cut the crap, come out and say it, your Dominican Mandingo stopped taking care of you long ago and have since been very bitter about it. After all this time, you haven't found a replacement yet, no one to fill in his spot and are at the pont of desperation. Meanwhile, you have chosen this outlet as the only way to let out your pent up frustrations, bad mouth the DR as an odd method to get revenge. Is that what is bothering you or what ?
My advice to you, what ever it is, just let it go, let it go man. You will feel so much better !!

Another shipment of cocaine to my country ??? Wow
Well, yes, Belgium is the logistics centre of Europe ;) apparently now for dominican drugs as well...
Although in this case I have my doubts, flights from La Romana to Brussels have been suspended for the winter season, the last one was end of October. These guys didn't do their homework right ;)
Anyway the more kgs they intercept, the better.

DR played a LEADING ROLE IN WW2!!! The country was one among very few that helped take in Jewish refugees who the Nazi were busy killing in the millions. Shame on the UK, the US, Canada and others for not helping in the face of such monstrous crimes against mankind.
DR needs to reclaim this unsung glory and do so by governing itself like a city not a country. With around 10+ million people a restart to the whole system is a minor administrative task. Hold 'local' municipal elections and away you go. The complexity involved in the current system is inherently a key source of failure. The municipal process will throw off the machinery and break the entire dependency/entitlement network that currently exists.
But maybe this is too out of the box thinking ...

AND maybe this will break the back of the Phytosanitary Certificate issuing problem currently undermining the entire system ... In Canada when they bust dope growers the tax man can also enter into the picture and levy fines and jail time for those not paying duty on the contraband ...

FedericoD,
Yes it is interesting that the Dominican Republic was the only country to welcome these Jewish refugees, and that it was a Trujillo initiative. Some claim it was part of his policy of "whitening" the country, while others it was to reverse his loss of international credibility after massacring so many Haitians.
I'm not sure if introducing another tier of government would improve the governance of this country. Australia has three tiers, federal, state and municipal, and its a nightmare.

Anybody visit the Jewish museum in Sosua ? I did. Ever notice the star of David in front of many homes in the DR ?
Yes Trujillo took in many Jews escaping nazi Germany....to cover-up his misdeeds, yes !
But at least he did when other nations who agreed took in very few to none.
My friend Zoltan Friedmenn was one of those who after surviving the Auschwitz death camp moved to Sosua in late 1947, he was liberated by the Russian army, Zoltan helped survivors with the relocation of many displaced families. Zoltan not finding ANY surviving family members moved to the DR, in 1951 moved to New York and married then moved to North Hollywood, CA.
Zoltan passed in 2003.
At the Holocaust museum in West Los Angeles he's immortalized at the entrance. Zoltan was always my guest speaker at Highland High School in Palmdale, Ca. about hate and hate speech.
In front of the museum in Sosua there's a olive tree planted in front in his Honor.

is this the "there are not Atheists in fox-holes" bullshit?
Well there are. Christopher Hitchins was in a fox-hole and he didn't flinch ever. Nor will I. The reality is, believers fear death more than Atheists. They also fear life more, as evidenced by their higher suicide rate. Spiritual material does not "engage" one's mind - it merely numbs it. I know more scripture than most Christians. The difference is, I see it for the manipulative bullshit it is.
