SANTO DOMINGO.- Antinarcotics (DNCD) and Airport Security agents seized 58 packages of Puerto Rico-bound cocaine in Las Americas International Airport (AILA) Sunday, the fourth major shipment confiscated in Dominican Republic during the last week.

DNCD said its agents Vladimir Peralta Santos and Wilfredo Antonio Avila, as well as the civilian Salvador Feliz Gomez were arrested in the case.

It said the drug was found in six bundles at 5pm yesterday, placed on the airplane registry N355DL, piloted by the American Santos Seda Rodriguez, who’s on the loose.

The weight of the drug wasn’t disclosed.

It’s the fifth confiscation of drugs in the last 10 days, all cocaine, three of them, including yesterday’s, in Las Americas, and one in La Romana International Airport.

"fith confiscation of drugs in the last 10 days"........Looks like the DR will indeed have a White Christmas this year....

Why should the boys of the south should change anything? They only do what the boys from the north preach all the time: Supply and demand. While the boys from the north obviously need a white nose to work, the boys from the south will deliver them what they need. Unfortunately the ones who pay for all this shit are the countries of transit where more and more people get corrupted, too.

Calvoleon,

they'll make the needed changes if and when the heat becomes unbearable, like in Mexico.

The Mexican way is no solution. It causes only many deaths, but won't erradicate the mafia. There are only two not very promising ways: First to stop the demand of the rich countries, what also will never happen. The second is to legalize this shit, because anyways everybody who wants it will get it. It would cut the astronomical profits of the mafia and decriminalize the small dealers. But this also won't happen, because first it would mean big losses to corrupt politicians and police. Second the USA will never allow it, because then they had one very important reason less to intervene in the politics of Latin America. So let's go on with smuggling and killing. There is no way out. If the politicians didn't learn anything in 40 years of "war against drugs", why should they now?

"[they'll make the needed changes if and when the heat becomes unbearable, like in Mexico.]"

All interdiction did in Mexico was bottleneck the drugs and open local markets for them. Now they've got crackhead schoolkids, lots and lots of dead LE and a dying tourism industry. Prime example of shooting off one's nose to spite their face.

DR should learn from Mexico, not repeat their mistakes.

Dead men don't talk right Noriega, I mean Lie-onel Fernandez:

"HIGÜEY, Dominican Republic.-the national police confirmed the discovery of the corpse of a man in a vacant lot in the vicinity of the 4 kilometer between Benerito and Yuma, Higüey."

"The victim is the Puerto Rican Santos Seda Rodríguez, pilot and owner of the aircraft which were confiscated Sunday 58 packets of cocaine in the international airport of the Americas (AILA)."

"He said preliminary reports document that the corpse presents strong blows, detectable to the naked eye."

The FBI and the DEA will be all over this!

This could be the straw that broke Lie-onel's, I mean the Camel's back!

FBI & DEA must have know this US Citizen, Seda Rodriguez was on thin ice, since the discovery of coke on his light twin (N355DL) at La Romana. Unfortunately, the "udders guys" found him first. Dead men don't talk. I would venture to say, someone high up in the DR Military or Police is involved and needed to tie up loose ends to protect the real money men. Shame on the US DEA/FBI on their slow actions on this one. The DR has become a world class exporter/transhipper of coke....brought in from elsewhere. The Super Tucanos must be stopping most of the inbound shipments from the south....!! Gotta love the DR.

Thanks Josean, I stand corrected.. There has been so many packages of snow floating around, i must have been confused... 20 maletas of coke last week found at La Romana airport, if it's Tuesday it must be Belgium (I always loved that song).

Juango,

Did you notice the brutality of the beating on the guys face?

This apparently is a message from the authorities as to what can happen to you if you mess-up and more importantly if you decide to talk.

Apparently we have our own Dominican style Mexican Zetas:

"The group's name Los Zetas is given after its first leader, Lieutenant Arturo Guzmán Decena, whose Federal Judicial Police radio code was "Z1",[32] a code given to high-ranking officers.[20][21][22] The radio code for Commanding Federal Judicial Police Officers in México was "Y" and are nicknamed Yankees, for Federal Judicial Police in charge of a city the radio code was "Z," and thus they were nicknamed as the letter in Spanish, "Zetas."

Apparently when Lie-onel confessed to the American ambassador that he was afraid to go after the corrupt generals, he only told a have truth about being scared of coup; what he is really soiling his underwear about is that the monsters he created directly or indirectly have gotten out of hand.

He can't put the Genie back in the bottle and if he tries the Genie will come after him.

Pardon my naivety, but why do they need to torture a guy before killing him to shut him up?
