Santo Domingo.- Although the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il at the age of 69 means little to the Dominican Republic, the arrest of his son, Kim Jong-namin early May, 2001 and subsequent expulsion by Japan for using a false Dominican passport is a case that was never solved.
Japan deported the man who identified himself as the of North Korean leader's son after he was arrested for travelling on a false passport. The man, detained along with two women and a four-year-old boy who had arrived in the country with him, said he wanted to visit Tokyo’s Disneyland.
As part of a deal to avoid a diplomatic incident, Beijing agreed to receive Jong-nam, who had arrived at Tokyo's Narita International Airport and admitted having paid US$2,000 each for the fake passports for him and his travelling companions.
Scandals abroad
The reportedly fake passport was part of series of scandals involving trafficked Dominican documents, including cedulas, visas and others, and in most cases were linked to consuls and ambassadors abroad.
One case referred to a Russian national who visited the Dominican embassy in Washington, where he was told about the sale of passports and unabashedly asked the receptionist how much they cost.

"Mr. Kim had been grooming his third son, Kim Jong-un, believed to be in his late 20s, to be his successor. Reports from North Korea on Monday suggested that Kim Jong-un was in charge".
Well now, instead of terrorism, the new "axis of drugs and corruption" could be: North Korea, Dominican Republic, Haiti.
Nothing to brag to our young ones about.
We all know there are some fake Dominican passports and/or visas to Dominican Republic, you pay cash US dollars, you got it.....
Speaking of corrupt leaders and fake immigration documents here is a little gem from the crime files of Lie-onel Fernandez and the PLD mafia:
Wikileaks: revocation of visa to a corrupt Consul who swore that it would be rich
"President Leonel Fernandez intervened in his favor during the investigations of the United States goverment"
"SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic- Cable number 001692, sent by the United States Embassy in Santo Domingo talks about the formal request for the revocation of visas for the Dominican Consul in Hong Kong and her family, due to practices of corruption and illicit enrichment based on trafficking in persons."
"This cable, dated July 13, 2007, is the second on the Consul Casilda Teonilde Casado of Cheung. The first was the numbered 0733, dated June 15, 2007, in which President Leonel Fernandez, personally called on the authorities of United States to take clemency with Mrs. Cheung.'
