Santo Domingo.- DNCD president Rolando Rosado announced Wednesday night an investigation of Lieutenant colonel Johan Liriano, just hours after the journalists denounced his alleged threats.

The official said he adopted the measure immediately after hearing of it in an evening radio program, but noted that he doubts that it’s about the lieutenant colonel.

"We’ve named a commission into the case denounced and we expect its report as soon as possible, not without first recognizing the journalists’ work to benefit Dominican society, who we consider our main allies on the war on narcotrafficking," Rosado said.

FILED EARLIER.- The head of the Antinarcotics Agency’s (DNCD) contingent at  Las Americas International Airport yesterday threatened to place the journalists who cover the terminal in drug trafficking cases, if they continue publishing information on the confiscation of drugs before the entity discloses them.

Lieutenant colonel Johan Liriano made the warning when reporters from various media went to warehouse #3 of the freight terminal, site of another case of drugs seized.

Arbitrary

“I’m an arbitrary man and can easily put you in any drug case if you continue with that practice,” the senior officer said in a threatening tone. The official, in an effort at intimidation, went to the reporters accompanied by several bodyguards and other members of military assigned to the airport security agency (CESA), demanding that they abandon the area.

Another example of the “fine” young “modern” cadres Narco-Lionel has appointed to this extremely import function for the nation’s security.

Another poster child for the "not so smart" when will the stupidty end ?

“I’m an arbitrary man and can easily put you in any drug case if you continue with that practice,” the senior officer said in a threatening tone.

Now he is on record threatening the press, the very same group he is supposed to be protecting.

J. Liriano is a foolish thug (IDIOT) ! The photo doesn't help his public image either. His boss should relieve him of his post, immediately if not sooner, as he has done nothing to promote the DNCD efforts in the public arena. Talentless guys like this should be assigned a desk duty job at the HQ office, where no public can see them..

Is this the sign of things to come in DR?

"They dissolve police in Mexican municipality"

"More than 900 agents and about 100 police employees of Veracruz-Boca del Río lost their jobs by a decree of the Governor of Veracruz, Javier Duarte. The decision was made months after the discovery of 35 corpses in a main street in the municipality."

Talk about a fair and impartial reviewer of the facts!

If this is true this man has involvement of some type and needs to be removed from his post. Lionel is too scared to step and even admits this so he needs to be replaced with a President who will step up when needed to confront our corrupt officials.

the problem with this country is simple.how do u pay a congressman o a senetor 200,000 pesos a month but pay a cop 5,000 pesos a month.isn't he part of the government.how do u expect him to live with that, feed his family and survive.folks u know back home a cop starts with at least 35,000 dollars a year with full benefits.a city concilman a little more a congressman about 110,000 ,as much as a police lt or capt.if u pay these guys well or at lest 38,000 pesos a month, garented they would take there job more seriously and wouldn't be corrupt.they wouldn't want to lose there job.mr president wake the ------ up

Somebody call this guys village, tell them that their IDIOT has been located at Las Americas Airport.

Then Gen Rosado has the INCOMPETENCY to state that he is one of the best in airport OPNS. Yes only 17 of the guys in airport security have been arrested this month. The LTC had a find group of professionals.

Jojo is on the mark with his comment. A NYC/Boston/ PR cop get up in the morning to go to work and hears from his wife. El nino esat enfermo, got to take him to the Doctor. They just say ok, and go off to work do their job without family worries. Wife is on her way with a medcal card and prepaid drug plan with a $5 deductable.

That same situation in the DR, the cop goes to work thinking were do I get $500 pesos for the medicine the Doctor prescribed and hoping they do not order lab test which are not available, at the Govt or military hospitals.
