"Reasons Greetings!"
Today is the birthday of a very great man, who brought us the universal laws of classical physics, and is also the father of calculus. He has brought us much benefit, unlike the mythical Jesus, and the misery brought on mankind by the religion based around him. I am talking, of course, about Sir Isaac Newton born 25 December 1642. Just imagine how much better this world would be if Newton was worshiped, not Jesus.
I have noticed that Dominicans celebrate with, amongst other things, apples. Maybe they're not so stupid after-all!

Roy,

Not that I mind of course, but you may be steering ever so slightly of the TOPIC!

Remember the advice of our mutual friend the Professor:

[Roy]

“Just a friendly advise, because I know that you mean well:
In order to increase your credibility you should not post items that are not related to subject matter, designed to further personal causes unrelated to it.”

josean,
I am right on topic here. The topic is wishing people Merry Christmas. My point is, making a wish has the the same effect as saying a prayer - absolutely no effect what-so-ever.
"Two hands working achieves more than a thousand hands clasped in prayer"
When people say "God be with you" does that mean God won't be with you unless someone says it?
Either it's redundant or useless.

Roy you may have learned but not about other people and the simple wishing of merry christmas , sending of cards and messages and singing about goodwill amongst all mankind ..are things that most people feel comfortable with ,,and although you make your point many times ,,is it really necessary to rub your anti christianity in peoples noses quiote so much ,?? Sometimes personal views and comments are best left unsaid if they are likey to offend...but I am sure you know that already .
I hope 2012 will bring you more peace

Ricardolito,
Why is it that many Christians feel they have a right, even a duty, to spread "the good word" to anyone, yet when someone shows that "the word" is if fact bad, they get offended, defensive and even abusive?

Yes, Christmas can be a time for joy, but for many it is not. Suicide rates peak at this time. For many the joy of giving and receiving is overshadowed by their feelings of obligation, a sacrificial rite to the God of materialism, while maxing out on their credit-card. We can be sociable and kind to each other without the Jesus myth or the retail-fest. I have no problem singing about goodwill amongst men, however history proves time and time again, that belief in God tends to have the opposite effect. Every belligerent that goes to war believes God is on their side.

Roy ... How could a message of peace and love of fellow human beings be bad?

And yes of course there have been sickening displays of evil hiding behind the pretence of religion, no one will disagree with you but it does sound like someone posing as a Christian has jammed you up big time ... but you are not the only one ... hey I have known a couple of ministers who turned out to be quite bad a55's and in fact I attempted to have one guy arrested for fraud but he skipped town on a Saturday when a family member tipped him off that the cops were coming for him on a Monday ...

Funny enough that same family member burned another family member over money only a few years later and wow what a disgrace to have an 'Aunt' burn a 'neice' ... that is still a pi55 off!

I did not write either to argue or debate ..but simply point out that the wishing of good will at christmas time , of communicating with others , maybe on the once a year scale, of making peace with others , of joining with all the family at this traditional time is something that many people value and so why just not let it be.

How is that possible to let that one be -when something like this happens just yesterday over a mythical creature?
((
(AP) MADALLA, Nigeria — At a Nigerian Catholic church where a terror attack killed 35 people on Christmas, women tried to clean the sanctuary ahead of Mass on Monday while one man wept uncontrollably amid the debris.

Outside St. Theresa Catholic Church, crowds gathered among the burned-out cars in the dirt parking lot, angry over the attack claimed by a radical Muslim sect and fearful that the group will target more churches.

Rev. Father Christopher Jataudarde told The Associated Press that Sunday's blast happened as church officials gave parishioners white powder as part of a tradition celebrating the birth of Christ.

Some already had left the church at the time of the bombing, causing the massive casualties. In the chaos after the bombing, Jataudarde said one mortally wounded man, cradling his shredded stomach, begged him for religious atonement.

......
"Father, pray for me, I will not survive," the man said, according to the priest.

At least 52 people were wounded in the attack, said Slaku Luguard, a coordinator with Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency. Victims filled the cement floors of a nearby government hospital, some crying in pools of their own blood.
))

We are very fortunate to live in a religious calm part of the world. And that may not be for long. Yes, we should celebrate the birth of Isaac Newton -not the birth of that fictitious character that only brings turmoil and that false sense of comfort.

“josean,

I am right on topic here. The topic is wishing people Merry Christmas”

Now, Now Roy you slippery old Australian Fox

Please read carefully!

Headline:

“Dominican Today wishes you the best of the holidays “

Text:

“Santo Domingo.– We the staff of Dominican Today wish you the best of the holidays.
Thank you for the nearly seven years of turning to us for information of local and general interest.”

Nowhere in either the Headline or the Text of DT best HOLIDAY wishes is the word Christmas used.

So under the 11 Commandment of orthodox adherence to the New Religion that you and the Professor founded last week ,

“The Holy Order of RIGID Stay on Topic Posting” you are in violation.

Specifically you are in violation of the part of the tenet that clearly states; “you should not post items that are not related to subject matter, designed to further personal causes unrelated to it.”

josean, "Holiday" is politically-correct new-speak for "Christmas".
I prefer the etymologically correct spelling myself which is "Xmyth"
Now put your nose back in place and resume knocking Leo.

It is non-compliers like you, that led to Holy Inquisition and the development of waterboarding.

I very concerned regarding the punishment the Professor might have in store for you; a couple of days on the rack or even a possible a bed of nails.

Now I will get back to preparing for my talk at the Flat Earth Society: Titled-“Copernicus was Evil and off TOPIC about the Earth not being the center of the Universe.”

Things are not always what they seem to be or what some would like us to "believe" they are.

"Newton was also highly religious. He was an unorthodox Christian, and wrote more on Biblical hermeneutics and occult studies than on science and mathematics, the subjects he is mainly associated with. Newton secretly rejected Trinitarianism, fearing to be accused of refusing holy orders."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Newton

"Newton wrote a number of religious tracts dealing with the literal interpretation of the Bible, as he considered himself to be one of a select group of individuals who were specially chosen by God for the task of understanding Biblical scripture."

"Newton saw a monotheistic God as the masterful creator whose existence could not be denied in the face of the grandeur of all creation."
