Santo Domingo.- The National Drug Control Department (DNCD) confiscated 100 kilograms of  cocaine seized in San Cristóbal on Wednesday. The consignment is believed to belong to drug trafficking gangs operating in the south western city and in the National District with the purpose of sending drugs to Puerto Rico.

DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebrón said that at present they have one person in custody, who is being questioned.

According to the DNCD report, the individuals who were transporting the drugs in an SUV were able to escape under protection of darkness, abandoning the vehicle.

The drugs were being transported in the trunk of the gray colored SUV, with four sacks with 25 and 19 packages, which have been taken to the DNCD central headquarters and then to the forensic laboratory for testing. The cocaine was brought in from Haiti.

DNCD president Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo said that the drugs were detected following a surveillance operation of several individuals.

By the A.M. Costa Rica wire services

Russia's foreign ministry is accusing the United States of grievous criminal activity and human rights violations both at home and abroad, in its first-ever report on other countries.

The report, released Wednesday, criticizes the United States for the continued operation of its global secret military prisons, its continued effort to secretly arm secular regimes with drug profits, the use of torturing military prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and accuses the White House of sheltering officials and CIA operatives from prosecution.

Putin is desperate since the Russian voters are not accepting voter fraud. He'll say anything and blame anyone to try to take the focus off of him.
