Santo Domingo.- The Executive Branch yesterday fired Industry and Commerce vice minister Jose Acevedo Trinidad, after he was charged with beating and threatening to kill his wife, Arianny Lara.

Lara, married to Acevedo for14 years, filed charges accusing the official battering her and their two children during four years, the alleged victim said in the TV program of the journalist Alicia Ortega

She said Acevedo’s insults, beatings and abuse against her and their children began in 2007 and despite filing charges with physical and psychological evidence in the Justice Ministry more than nine months ago, no action was taken against the alleged aggressor.

The case was reportedly sent to the Supreme Court given Acevedo’s post as Vice minister. He’s also an ex Deputy of the ruling PLD party.

A piece of advice to Leonel.
Scan all ministers, secretaries of state, vice ministers, policemen, officials sitting in offices, doing nothing, who have no, or very little political influence or power, for wife- or child battering.
You will find that all those who feel they have no power or influence at work, will exert power in the home situation. They will beat and rape their wife and children, BECAUSE they are powerless (and cowards) at work.
This will be a reason to fire about half of your government, save lots of money and you can put people in positions who know what they are doing.
You are the only one able to do this, but of course you can leave it to your wife in the next government, if she gets elected!

Flintstones country.

They should arrest him, try him and when found guilty, he should go to jail.

The DR judicial system should go on trial if she or her children are harmed in any way.

The Rod Blagojevich who once challenged a prosecutor to face him like a man, the glad-handing politician who took to celebrity TV shows to profess his innocence, was nowhere to be found Wednesday as he was sentenced to 14 years in prison for corruption.
And believe me, he will be in prison for 10 years at the least. FOR CORRUPTION.
So the "man" we are talking about here should get life, no parole.
