Ex Cincinnati Reds star pitcher leaves interrogator waiting for 3rd time

Santo Domingo.- Former Cincinnati Reds star pitcher Jose Rijo left the head of the Justice Ministry’s Anti-laundering waiting for the third time yesterday, when he was scheduled for interrogation in connection with his alleged business dealings with the fugitive Matías Avelino Castro, wanted on charges of murdering the journalist Jose Silvestre and narcotics trafficking.

Deputy Justice minister German Miranda affirmed having “strong evidence” linking Rijo to Castro.

He said the ex Major Leagues All-Star could be charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive and of forming part of Castro’s businesses.

Local media report that Rijo’s failure to appear for interrogation stems from his lawyer’s need to travel to the United States.
