Santo Domingo.- Awaiting them is the world’s most feared 29,002 feet (8,840 meters) above sea level; the planet’s highest point and what the most seasoned alpinists’ dream are made of.
The Dominicans Iván Gomez, Karim Mella and Federico Jovine head the country’s first expedition to Mount Everest. They’ll set forth toward the Himalayas mountain range on March 27 as part of the Seven Crests project, which has taken them to scale the highest mountains in each continent, with Rubén Torres and Luis Manuel González also part of the team.
They’ve already conquered Africa’s mounts Kilimanjaro and Kenya, in Tanzania, (2005); Aconcagua in Argentina (2006) and Elbrus, in Russia (2009).
They will now seek to reach Everest and despite sounding cruel, the fact that it’s the most extreme mountain climb any will ever dare, the adventurers have signed the Nepalese Government’s required affidavit on what to do with their bodies in the event of a tragedy.

Nice personal achievement; however, except for patriotic pride, possibly meaningless to Dominicans given educational, health and economic realities.
Nevertheless, congratulations on achievements to date, and best of luck on pending accomplishments.
And, yes, as a native Dominican, I am proud of you. Perhaps your actions, accomplishments would translate into great inspiration for a long-deprived populace to achieve great feats, preferrably in education and health and economic development areas.
Good luck!

60 YEARS LATER?
Mount Everest—also known as Sagarmatha or Chomolungma—is the highest mountain on Earth, as measured by the height of its summit above sea level. The mountain, which is part of the Himalaya range in High Asia, is located on the border between Nepal and Tibet. Its summit was first reached in 1953 by Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal. Its exact height is debated, but is approximately 29,000 feet above sea level. Climbing Everest has generated controversy in recent years, as nearly 200 people have died climbing the mountain.
60 YEARS LATER, BUT GUESS ITS A OK! THING TO DO EVEN NOW.
MAYBE LEO WILL PUT SOME MONEY INTO EDUCATION AND THEN SOME DOMINICAN KID CAN BE THE 1ST IN SOMETHING IN THE WORLD THAT WOULD BE GREAT DONT U THINK?.
