"had already visited the country and contacted business leaders which might be potential investors"

Talk about a genius.

All Dominican investors with an interest in Haiti were there even before the quake.

Correction Pepe you have a one way traffic
Of commerce east to west which according to a resent article here on DT have surpassed your trade volume to the biggest market in the western hemisphere. You also get an added bonus, an abundant source of cheap labor as the men power which fuel your side of the island development.

Sure Pat that trade is dependent on the money pouring in from other countries but once that money slows down so will the volume of trade . You are correct about the cheap labour though.

This Martelly is my hopeful for the Presidency of Haiti and I will take all bets that he will win.

@ Pepe 32 - Why are you so ignorant? You wouldn't happen to be a peasant, too? Did one of the Haitian guys take your job or something, or maybe your girlfriend? Get over it!

Super ,why are you so ignorant ?? Why does a Haitian live in a Dominican forum instead of dealing with Haiti's many ills?

Yes I am a peasant ...not like your peasants who are just a step removed from the stone age though and as far as a girlfriend ,you make me laugh ...I would never associate with anyone that would would stoop to the level of most of your people forget date them but nice try.

Get over your obsession with my country and do something for yours for a change and not in the Haitian cyber fantasy world where all of you can say you are the king of England but in the world of reality where Haitians are living in tents and depending on the goodness of others to survive. You apparently have no shame .

This Candidate and it's people strongly support UNIFICATION of the DR with the remains of Haiti, i don't see what is there to talk about with somebody who can affort to be associated with such desires.

@Pep,

I am a contributor to this site and Sakapfet-Haiti because my business is in both countries. I own homes in both countries and what happens here effects my livelihood just as much as what happens in Haiti.

You like to insult people because this is always the first recourse of a small mind. Large minds talk about ideas, medium minds talk about events, and small minds talk about people.

No, I never said that I was rich, you did. I work for a living. I am working now negotiating with clients at the Caucedo port in Boca Chica. I live in jarabacoa. Does this sound like the life of a "King of England"?

I am not going to insult someone just because he or she is dominican just for being of dominican nationality. I will not do what I teach my children not to do.

I prefer to engage face to face, iron out any frustrations in person. You come with peace and I will be peaceful. You come with war and I will fight with no mercy. Where do you want to meet today?

Super, post in the forum where the real discussions can be had ,this venue is for quick shallow commentary because the format limits any real depth.

Carlos ,I don't know why you are picking on Entienn ..he is a better "Dominican" than some of our compatriots.

No decent Dominican should meet with any haitian leaders that make such offensive remarks relating to our sovereignty . Our government should publicly demand an apology and let the Haitian "government" and "leaders" know that our sovereignty is not negotiable!

Jarabacoa,
I would prefer to see the island burned down into ashes 166 times before allowing that to happen.
Somebody had the same idea 166 years ago and things did not ended up well. Let's keep the two countries as is, let's promote peace.

Jaracoba Two countries on one island - a bunch of countries on one continent. What is the difference? Borders are meant to maintain some order, just like a fence around your property.

Super Lover Large minds talk about ideas, medium minds talk about events, and small minds talk about people & This Martelly is my hopeful for the Presidency of Haiti and I will take all bets that he will win. Just what is he going to do - of what do you/he regards as the most pressing of issues - and how can they be solves. How much participation can Haitians expect of their government and how much participation of Haiti’s own citizens to solve their problems can the new government of Haiti expect. The answer cannot be the begging bowl in whatever form it is presented. Haitian (maybe all countries) leaders should have their passports permanently shredded upon assumption of office and there after travel on travel documents issued by the current and succeeding governing bodies. You make a mess you live in it.
