1. Did the couple see what lead up to the police "beating of the suspect" ?
2. Was the couple arrested for obstruction, are they charged ?
3. Did these police officers have past abuse incidents ?
4. No info. on the beating suspect was he charged for a crime ?
5. No mention of possible witnesses to the incident ?
6. Does the couple both speak and understand English fully ?
7. Was Hope struck more then once ?
8. Pedro arrested 4 times, for what crime, is he charged ?
9. Hope punched, Pedro only shoved ?
10. Did the F.B.I investigate any possible civil rights violation ?
11. $24 million dollar law suit, for pain / suffering and or abuse under the color of authority ?
12. Where's Jesse J. & Al Sharpton at ?
13. Is color an alleged issue ?
14. Does Hope & Pedro have criminal records prior to this incident ?
15. Is Hope & Pedro employed ?
16. Have the police in this incident faced any Departmental discipline ?
I can go on.....

Possible Police brutality ? But I would never deny that, in the U.S currently the percentage is small.
Criminal brutality against crime victims a 100% fact.

I grew up in that area. Cops always treated the locals like sh**. Not saying every cop is like that but there are lot of disrespectful police officers that aren't that much better than the thugs. Generally when it comes to NYPD the motto is do what you gotta do worry about covering your azz later.

ElChico,
There are bad cops everywhere, Southern California's L.A.P.D used to have one of the baddest reputations of abuse [I'm not talking R. King either].
Then came community policing and with it came the publics understanding and real life perception of what police go through on a daily bases....NEVER an excuse for improper behavior on or off duty.
Now L.A.P.D has the new reputation of "Latino / Black police abuse" yet all is silent....nothing like being abused by your kind.
Imagine that.....how much crime is committed where so many public eyes, ears and video cameras are present, which brings me to this incident.....NO WITNESSES, NO CRY'S FOR HELP HEARD ?
They say no crime goes unseen or unheard of, police now realize how important and dependent they have become on the publics help to solve crime.
The stuff I've seen in the DR committed by police in public and in the open, who would dare challenge them ?
more to come....

If one is ever gets abused by police in the U.S physical or verbally be calm and respectful never be confrontational, wait then simply ask why are you being pulled over, stopped or questioned.
Document the whole verbal conversation and document date, time, location, name, rank [look for strips] badge number and if possible witnesses.
Then file a formal written complaint and be sure to obtain a copy from the Captain / watch commander of the written complaint for your records, then if warranted seek legal action.
The key words here are DOCUMENT the incident and obtain WITNESSES when ever possible.
Just think....how many times when were a victim of a crime we grab that phone and dial for help with out even thinking.
Remember a crime is a crime, the U.S is a nation of laws and nobody in the U.S is above the law.
LOL unless your in Cuba.

hellborn, you obviously have never sued a police department in the US. They are as crooked as their Dominican counterparts. Unless a video appears to back their story, they will get a minor (under 50,000) settlement or they will just keep getting harassed until they can't take it anymore.

oh believe me I know the stories of the nypd , I live in new york for some time then I move to new jersey its good and bad everywhere , new york cops have a history of being trigger happy in some cases, but lets face it cops got to deal with alot scumbag criminals specialy in new york were crime is rampat , if these cops did commit this act like I said they will have to answer to internal affairs , however I get the feeling that the people who are suing the police department are a bunch chopos. what bussness is of theres to get involed in a police matter where they claim that a boy was being beaten? if thats the case, like riosm says they should of been arrested for police obstruction.

The U.S. is a glorified apartheid country. If you're not Caucasian, with clear eyes, and peachy-cream complexion; you get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, and you're up the creek without a paddle. (The Civil Rights Act of 1964, and all that blah, blah, blah, notwithstanding). :-)

All these Lush Rimjobs/Glen Beck wannabee types that are always hoopin' and hollerin' on this forum about the good ole' USA, belong to that unenviable menagerie known, as the functionally illiterate of the historic memory of nations. They're always jumpin' up and down about how marvellous and fabulous the USA is, but I bet your bottom dollar they wouldn't dare stick their noses in books like "Las venas abiertas de America Latina" by Eduardo Galeano, a copy in English I believe was what President Chavez graciously handed to President Obama at the Americas Summit in Trinidad. Needless to say I doubt Obama bothered to read it, 'cause if he did his attitude would've been a bit less cavalier on his recent (and failed) Latin American tour. The U.S. is so infected with imperial self-righteousness, arrogance and fault-finding of our Latin countries, that I doubt it sees itself in the mirror of history. Now we know the reason why these Lush Rimjobs/Glen Beck types keep harping on this forum
From: Dominican Republic
And as to the Cuban Revolution, you amateur fascists from up North can rant and rave all you want about Uncle Fidel, but if it weren't for Fidel and the Revolution, the entire Latin American Continent nowadays would be a motley hodge-podge collection of semi-feudal vassal states, all bending their knees to Uncle Sugar. Too bad Uncle Fidel rained on Uncle Sam's parade and he wouldn't march to the beat of the Empire. Not only does Uncle Sam have to contend now with our valiant brothers and sisters of Revolutionary Cuba, but Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and others, are finally twiddling their thumbs at Uncle Sam too. You Yankee counterparts might not like it, but you gotta lump it! :-)
