La Romana, RD.– After taking off from La Romana, in the Dominican southeastern region, a Boeing 767-300 had to make an emergency stop in Bermuda on Sunday due to a mechanical malfunction and a possible hydraulic leak.
On approach to Bermuda the crew advised they'd be
landing overweight and would stop at the end of the runway requesting
emergency service to check their brakes and for hydraulic fluid dripping
onto the brakes. The crew however did not declare emergency.
The
airplane landed safely on Bermuda's runway 12 about 130 minutes later
and stopped on the runway.
Emergency services reported some smoke from the brakes on the outer main gear wheels however no leaks of hydraulic fluid were visible, later adding they could smell the hydraulic fluid. The aircraft taxied to the apron about 20 minutes after stopping.
