Santo Domingo. - San Juan province (west) senator Felix Bautista today responded to opposition PRD party presidential candidate Hipólito Mejia’s accusation of corruption, inviting him to address the fraud allegation by his convention rival Miguel Vargas.
“It would be more advisable than he puts attention to the serious questionings and accusations Andy Dauhajre voiced publicly, that Hipólito destroyed the country’s economy during his four years in office," the legislator of the ruling PLD party said.
Though Mejia, Dauhajre and Bautisa have all been the target of scandal in the handling of taxpayers’ money, none has ever faced formal charges in the country’s courts.
Bautista said since Mejia doesn’t have proposals for the country of capacity to do so, he resorts to "jive in the same manner with which he handled the country and sank it in the deepest economic crisis."
"Hipólito Mejía is a man of scarce verb and is hard to see how that he's in the top levels of Dominican politics, with so many intelligent and prepared men and women in that party,” said the legislator in a statement quoted by diariolibre.com.
On Tuesday the ex President affirmed that he would “lock up” all of the corrupt Government officials of the PLD party, and that he would like to compete with Bautista, "for the ease via which he takes what's not his."

After the makeover, he looks like the big-city idiot.
They are both corrupt... what's the point.
