Paris.- INTERPOL General Secretary Ronald Noble on Wednesday congratulated Dominican Republic’s Police which he described as "one of the best in the world," after the operations which led to the arrest of notorious international fugitives, including several heads of the Italian Mafia, said a statement quoted by EFE..

Noble personally congratulated Dominican Police chief Jose Polanco in the INTERPOL office in Santo Domingo, where he stressed, among other arrests, that of camorra (mafia) leader Ciro Mazzarella, one of the 100 most wanted fugitives in the world, and the also Mafia leader capo Mariano Martone and seven other Italian fugitives.

He also noted the capture of a Canadian fugitive at the Puerto Plata airport April 27, wanted on charges of pedophilia. “These accomplishments place in evidence what can be obtained when the countries work jointly."

Noble added that INTERPOL’s office in Santo Domingo must be seen as an example of effectiveness in other countries of the region.

What did he say ??? that the Dominican branch of INTERPOL is one of the best in the world which may be true or did he say the Dominican Police Force is one of the best , which would be definitely not true

I guess France wants DR to annex Haiti and pick-up where they left off at.

After this statement "one of the best in the world", one has to suspect the information he receives has been laundered ..... or it was an embellishment. Could be he was talking about one officer within the force and the press release was artfully changed to reflect the whole force.

this paper most of the time gives u part of the story.
like the other day about the drug business in the dr.
it was on the front page of the miami herald. it was on two pages in total.
this paper did not report really any of the story that ran in the miami paper.
anyway. now that the dr has the best police force in the world, guess WE CAN TAKE DOWN THE BARS ON OUR HOMES AND APT'S ,CAN GO OUT AT NIGHT WITHOUT FEAR.
LAST WEEK THEY SAID WE HAVE THE BEST BEACHES IN THE WORLD, THE WEEK BEFORE WE HAVE THE BEST DIVE AND SNORKELING WATER'S IN THE WORLD.
WE HAVE PADI-NAUI-SSI-SEI-CMAS
PLUS 5 STAR SDI/TDI PRO DEVELOPENT CENTER.

when u think about it. the dr is a small country. not really many places for these so-called mafia guys to hide in. they are not going to hide in one campo for years are they? and people like to talk??? this is where and now they got them .... i dont know if it was good or great police work, but it seems they did their job.
dont believe all of the police are bad guys, but they are few and far between.

They're the best in the world to catch internationally wanted criminals.

That is, running after them after the Interpol guys finger-point them and say "fetch, boy, fetch"..

Danny00,
I am in agreement with you on this one. People in the DR help the police a lot by reporting and talking about what they saw and heard. Everywhere in DR, especially in the Campos, la gente le lleva la vida a los otros...Everyone around knows each other and inquire more than in any other place that I know of. Even in Santo Domingo, when you move in to an appartment complex, pleople start asking you all kind of questions (In a friendly way) and two-three months down the road without realizing you have told someone half of your life. This type of things do not happen in Mexico where a person can be shot in front of their neighbors and when police asks questions, nobody wants to get involved. So Police cops don't have any clue where to start.
Good point.!

It was not difficult to find them since Fernandez and his crew are friends with these sleazy people. They were permitted to enter DR because Fernandez has allowed all criminal elements to exist. So, they knew where they were all the time.

Criminals run rampant in my country protected by the corrupt politicians. You pay for protection adn are safe until your money runs out.We have criminals in charge of protecting us that is the problems.

Really Carmen ..you think that LF looks at all the names of passengers every day at every airport to see if he recognises any sleazy person ,,I think that it has nothing to do with LF but simply that the Interpol pay their staff a good salary and expect results .If our police were paid better , they would probably do a better job

Mr. Noble must be a fool on par with abc200!

Yeah, predictably, some gullible soles here would take to bragging about this accolade; however, this will only serve to expose their ignorance.

Our police department is a joke at all levels. They are perpetrators of gross and grave injustices against the people. They have exhibited grave ineptness and gross corruption. They are clearly not worthy of this accolade. Anyway, consider the source of the award: the pompous French and Interpol. This has to be a joke.

The US gringo criminals run the computer terminals at the airport. They installed them 23 months ago to track the movements of persons with special emphasis on US Citizen slaves. State of the art IT network. Hotlinked real-time to the District of Criminals.
