Santo Domingo. - Dominican Republic’s judges, grouped in the organization Judemo, yesterday denounced “intimidation” and “harassment” of its members by other officials of the Judiciary, aimed at coercing their “interest” in working together for an independent justice and adherence to the laws in effect.

The statement by Judemo president Katia Miguelina Jiménez and secretary Daniel Julio Nolasco, which cites neither specific cases nor names, continues the practice of vague allegations which has become generalized in the country.

They said the Judicial Branch Council prepares to debate requests for the transfer of magistrates, which in their view have no other intention than repression.

The Website acento.com.do published the statement in Jiménez’s column, which promotes the culture and human rights.

I agree that the vague allegations and the generalisations that are made against the courts and the legal system do much damage and do not allow a proper reply .but the problem is that with more than 85% of the prison population not having being sentanced , the obvious conclusion is that justice is failing here..
I have been in court two times where a person has falsely accused another simply with the desire of being paid off , and the judge has not weighed up any evidence but has ordered a temporary sentance with bail conditions ,That means that bail, which is non refundable in the DR , is kept by the court and the poor falsely accused person has time to raise the money to pay off his accuser .
There must be a better system where the prosecution has to present an initial case and the defence must be given an opportunity to test this evidence ,,,right from the start .

The DR is a banana Republic where legal rights are bought and sold by the priviledged. Money talks and the poor pay the price of injustice.

I do not think it is solely in the DR that justice favours the rich but it is the process, in my opinion that is wrong ..and I agree that the greatest exponent of vague denouncements is Vincho Castillo .

Oh Lord, the 21st century and Dominicans are living in the dark ages.

You have to "denounced “intimidation” and “harassment” of its members by other officials of the Judiciary, aimed at coercing their “interest” in working together for an independent justice and adherence to the laws in effect. "?

Pathetic.

Nothing too wrong with a country where you can resolve any problem with a 500 peso note.
In the U.S. it's $5,000.
In Europe it's €10,000.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have the pleasure to brief you on our Data Visualization software
"Trend Compass".

TC is a new concept in viewing statistics and trends in an animated
way by displaying in one chart 5 axis (X, Y, Time, Bubble size &
Bubble color) instead of just the traditional X and Y axis. Discover
trends hidden in spreadsheets. It could be used in analysis,
research, presentation etc. In different business sectors, to name a
few we have Deutsche Bank, NBC Universal, RIM, Vanguard
Institutional Investor, Ipsos, Princeton University as our clients.

NBC presentation on TED using Trend Compass exported Videos. Now on
