Santo Domingo.- Just 12 days ago president Leonel Fernandez caught the country’s attention when his supporters, counted strictly as such, staged a rally in the Olympic Center to deliver a reported 2.2 million signatures calling for his reelection.

However the chief executive didn’t specify whether he’ll seek a new bid, which cast doubts on his political future even more, and affirmed: "I am the guarantor that those signatures become sure votes for the Dominican Liberation Party. I accept this support that you offer me and to endorse it to the PLD, so that the party decides what’s the future that corresponds to the Dominican Republic."

As the date in which the PLD Political Committee must choose its hopefuls for the presidential candidacy nears, Fernandez centers the country’s attention on his final position regarding the primary, and will need to state it in a clearer manner when he addresses the nation tonight.

The Head of State reaches the crossroad under a very special panorama; the citizens continue approving his job performance.

The activity with the signatures was a sort of proclamation and an expression of force prior to his party’s primary, and one which can define the PLD’s future, in office or out.

Is almost certain that the primera furufa is going to run, and i have to tip my hat to leo, once the government start using public resources to campaign on behalf of this unknown grillo and with the slogan LLEGO MAMA! is 90% guarantee a victory for the ruling party. es un genio embotellado despues de todo

Does Danilo have the cojones to implement our immigration laws? To me that is the most pressing issue. Enforce our constitutional laws on illegal immigration and we cut down on crime, cut down on unemployment of DOMINICANS as there will be less people competing for jobs and depressing wages, better quality of life without street beggars and public relieving of people without permanent homes with plumbing.

And are we going to change our constitution again to allow more than 2 consecutive terms - a return to an unsound political practice. Permanence in power is akin to a dictatorship even if it's benevolent.

Venganza. the most important issues are quality of life issues across the board, including immigration. No one in the PLD gives a crap about the delinquency, corrupt police, street crime, brutal thieves, Haitians or any other problem. Taxes upon taxes and for what? A few more elevados? The public education system is a mess. Fernandez has allowed all the criminal elements to take up residence in DR. He has sold our land and resources to foreigners. He pardoned a low life Sra Lebron who Mejia convicted for bank fraud and collapse. Why would anyone want more of the disgusting despicable canalla Fernandez and his crew. Not to mention the insipida Margarita. She is a farisea!!!

2.2 million signatures?
I didn't know that many Dominicans could write!
He still needs more to catch up to Rafael Trujillo. when he was elected in to office, he received more votes than there were actual voters!

Lionel does not want to be seen as wanting to change the constitution to suit his personal ambition. He would rather wait until the the country (appears to) beg for him ti stand, then for the sake of the people, he will reluctantly accept - just as Trujillo did!
