Santo Domingo.- Just 12 days ago president Leonel Fernandez caught the country’s attention when his supporters, counted strictly as such, staged a rally in the Olympic Center to deliver a reported 2.2 million signatures calling for his reelection.
However the chief executive didn’t specify whether he’ll seek a new bid, which cast doubts on his political future even more, and affirmed: "I am the guarantor that those signatures become sure votes for the Dominican Liberation Party. I accept this support that you offer me and to endorse it to the PLD, so that the party decides what’s the future that corresponds to the Dominican Republic."
As the date in which the PLD Political Committee must choose its hopefuls for the presidential candidacy nears, Fernandez centers the country’s attention on his final position regarding the primary, and will need to state it in a clearer manner when he addresses the nation tonight.
The Head of State reaches the crossroad under a very special panorama; the citizens continue approving his job performance.
The activity with the signatures was a sort of proclamation and an expression of force prior to his party’s primary, and one which can define the PLD’s future, in office or out.

Can't wait to see Margarita in gaucho garb.
Is almost certain that the primera furufa is going to run, and i have to tip my hat to leo, once the government start using public resources to campaign on behalf of this unknown grillo and with the slogan LLEGO MAMA! is 90% guarantee a victory for the ruling party. es un genio embotellado despues de todo
And are we going to change our constitution again to allow more than 2 consecutive terms - a return to an unsound political practice. Permanence in power is akin to a dictatorship even if it's benevolent.
Just think they didn't even have to buy cedulas to forge names on a paper!.
How very funny this all is. Transparent as can be...
I didn't know that many Dominicans could write!
He still needs more to catch up to Rafael Trujillo. when he was elected in to office, he received more votes than there were actual voters!
