Santo Domingo.- The Presidency’s Chief of staff yesterday railed the opposition PRD party’s presidential candidate, affirming that Hipólito Mejia doesn’t have the moral quality to speak of confronting corruption.

Cesar Pina said however that he prefers to leave the topic for when the electoral campaign starts in earnest, to then make reference to the ex chief executive’s term in office (2000-2004).

He said just the case of ex Army captain Quirino Paulino, extradited to the United States on trafficking 1,300 kilos of cocaine, and would be enough to silence Mejia. “But that’s a debate that we’re going to leave for when the real campaign begins; there’ll be many things with which to respond Mejia and others for the country to remember his term, just the Quirino Paulino case would be enough to shut him up.”

In his candidacy proclamation speech on Sunday, Mejia vowed to confront corruption in government and threatened to jail this one’s corrupt officials.

Moral Quality, I am surprised that the PLD and Leonel can even spell that.

"Hipólito Mejia doesn't have the moral quality "

Isn't that a good thing for a Dominican? I am confused. Their corruption is so transparent you'd think that it is OK.

I would like to see a side by side of the various associated corruption subjects. It would make for great reading and comparisons. I'm sure BOTH would have quite the list.

At any event, they're all the same.

Even if they admitted publicly all the shenanigans, nothing would happen.

Hotoniel would like us to believe he is moonlighting as a male striiper because they don't pay him a salary..

I would love to see a full blown televised debate......moderated by accomplished journalists.....My wife tells me this has never happened in the RD. The Dominican middle class should be pushing for this....bring a little transparency and accountability to the political process.....possibly?
