PERCENTAGE FOR MEDINA, LAST PARAGRAPH

Santo Domingo.- 60% of Dominicans say Danilo Medina should be the ruling PLD’s party presidential candidate in the 2012elections, according to a Gallup survey published by newspaper Hoy Tuesday.

Trailing far behind are Jose Tomas Perez, 3.5%, Francisco Domínguez, 2%, vice president Rafael Alburquerque, 1.3%, Franklyn Almeyda, 1.1%, and Radhamés Segura, 0.1%.

It’s the first time since 2009, when similar polls were published, that Medina figures with such a high percentage, when he was tied with the First Lady Margarita Cedeño at 28% in July that year.

In December that year he fell to 23%, and even further with seven more points in July 2010, but rebounding to 36% in December, leaving the First Lady behind at 12%.

Gallup-Hoy also asked who would be the next President, and 48% of those polled said Mejia, to 40% who tapped Medina.

This time our choice is between syphilis, gonorrhea, or diarrhea.

Quite a selection, huh?

The PLD is worn out and fat, due to the honeys of being in power for 8 years and Danilo Medina, who would have otherwise been an excellent choice, has a very uphill battle.
When the PLD elects him as their official candidate, it will be a slug fest, with no one left standing, as the two giants will be slinging mud at each other.
Since both parties are guilty as charged, and both have conspired with the underworld for their ill gotten pirates chest, there is a possibility of a third contender gaining some space.
A joint electoral venture with all the smaller parties aligned with the PRSC, could offer the electorate a better choice than one of the above, if they choose a fresh face, and a young charismatic "dark horse" without a long tail, of corruption history, could position himself in a shared government negotiation, considering the fact that there is actually a strong possibility of a second voting round, anything could happen.

Danilo Medina lacks the charisma of a street smart Dominican politician, or the "tiguere" fighter style of Hipoloco Mejia, who will surely beat him again, as he did in 2000.
Medina's attraction is for the intellectual and professorial crowd, that actually reads the innovative government plans that he has published.
He has the looks of a nerdy accountant and has problems with his speech and delivery, making him an easy target for the likes of Hipoloco.
The time for the third option never has been better, if somehow they could reach a consensus candidate between the PRSC and Hatuey Descamps, Eduardo Estrella and Guillermo Moreno.

Hippo wins and shame on all Dominicans. You have less brains than a bag of camel dung.

My income is in Dollars. The dollar will go directly to 50 to 1. I get more pesos and my property gains value in a flight to safety. Maybe I cash out and move to Panama or Costa Rica or maybe even Ecuador. Win/Win for me but Gawd Help every Dominican but you will get what you deserved if you vote in the Hippo.

This survey just means Danilo will be our next president, Hipolito will have to go back to school at least 4 years to learn how to be a president in this modern and complicated country.

think so, moya? llego Papa. the PLD will never win the next election, because the man in the street is suffering too much as it stands, and the general public will not allow for a continuation of the current regime and its policies. it is a bitter pill to swallow, but them´s the facts.
