A. Aristy, laughing with his rear molars...
Santo Domingo.- The nationwide movement Toy Jarto (I’ fed up) alleged east Monday that the Justice Ministry’s Anticorruption Department (DPCA) and its director Otoniel Bonilla have becomes accomplices of the country’s corruption, by failing to proceed in irregularities such as Amable Aristy’s tenure in the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), reportedly fraught with scandal.
Movement president Elizabeth Mateo said the DPCA director’s assertion that a government official cannot be charged based on an Accounts Chamber audit isn’t true, and quite the contrary, those audits are a documents of an official oversight agency.
In a statement, Toy Jarto states its position on the cases of corruption confirmed by the Accounts Chamber audits, including the LMD and Aristy.
“Hotoniel Bonilla’s declarations are very dangerous, they suggest that the Accounts Chamber is negligent in its audits and that any agency can begin to question them without opening a judicial process against its judges. Moreover his statements demonstrate the incompetence with which the DPCA has always been managed and the tacit complicity which exists between the corrupt and the persecutor entity.”
Mateo added that the DPCA must have an active role in the anti-corruption effort and that its constant lethargy and negligence place the sincerity of its activities in doubt.

Let's face it.
1)There is no reason to do public service if you can't steal.
2) When you do steal you will not get caught.
3) If you somehow are stupid enough to be caught, you will not be punished.
4) This will never change until we have a leader who cares.

juanb, you are spot on. At this moment in time, the DR truely requires a strong handed leader, one who will kick-a$$ and take names later ! Without an educated populace (pueblo), the DR is no better than some of today's African nations lead by despots. I say fresh blood, new ideas and a new face. Someone who is a true patriot and cares for the future of DR. Forget the PRD, PLD, PRSC, and all the other phony-me-first groups.

it occurs to me that the most wondrous thing in life is not what you have , but what you have done in your life time.PROBABLY the least worthy are the things we have, for after all they are just things and while we might be PROUD to use them, they will not LAST and by and of themselfs can give no LASTING JOY of HUMAN INTERACTION.what is real IS FOR THE THINGS WE DO WHICH HAVE THE MOST WORLDLY IMPACT, many times , not so much on ourselfs, but the people for or whom they are done.

sorry in the land of greed, no respect for any one or any thing, in the land of lust and the quest solo for the dollars one wants,
respect and accomplishment, acts of charity, this is not seen in the dr.
its screw who and what ever has long as you get the dollars its the only thing that counts.
man they have it all wrong, in time they will find this to be true what i write.

Of course everyone is corrupt. There is no reason not to be. There is no punishment for criminals especially government employees. Our leader does nothing to fix this and in fact adds to it with his antics and only motives of gaining wealth. We need a leader to tell all these boneheads when they are elected the gravy train is over and they will go back and take away all their ill gotten fortunes as well as put them all in jail.
I am ashamed at how my country is run. Anyone who pays attention and looks realizes our government is a complete joke and we have no justice system. The economy is based upon corruption and drug money.

Hernandez, i feel the same way as you.. Another thing is that it is ludicrous that our people always get tricked into voting for these triple threats (PLD. PRD, PRSC) with a promise of a better future. And once made a fool of, they get to vote for them anyways despite of thier lies. The problem is that the people never learn, they sell their souls for money and don;t have the brains to think about tommorow. many are laxed, and accept "this is the way of life" or "as long as I'm ok, drinking beers and rum and playing dominoes, I'll be fine". The people really needs to wake up because the Gov;t and the Richies are screwing the pueblo up!!

This is the most corrupt government in the history of DR. But the reality is that the political class is corrupt from top to bottom so we will be in the same situation no matter who is in charge. The situation will not change unless there is a large round up of the corrupt and an incarceration of these people combined with a forfeit of all ill-gotten gains. Ofcourse this woul leave us with no government or legislature . This is an impossibility because there is no one who can do it because from the police to the military to the attorney general to the DNI is all completely corrupt and depend on the corrupt for funding. This paints an ugly picture but it's the reality. There is no hope because of the impunity involved and that the key the impunity is what's at the heart of corruption which in turn is at the heart of ALL of the problems in DR. What makes me angry are those in this site who say that not all gov officials are corrupt those are the fools.

It seems that the greed and corruption of the government has trickled down to the populace; or maybe it's the other way around. Try and do a favor for someone in the Dominican Republic and they ask you how much will you pay them to let you do them a favor...wow!
