Santo Domingo. – Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez on Wednesday instructed all prosecutors to collaborate with the Accounts Chamber, which on Monday stated that the country’s 136 city councils have failed to provide adequate bookkeeping and declared them “in contempt.”

“You are authorized to provide pertinent and timely collaboration for the activities of the Accounts Chamber,” were part of the instructions issued to assist the Accounts Chamber, through a memo sent to the DAs.

The decision comes in the wake of wide rebuke the city councils’ lack of transparency in the managent of taxpayers’ money, for which Acounts Chamber president Licelot Marte warned that documents would be confiscated as part of the legal actions.
