Santo Domingo.- Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday thanked the Dominican Republic and especially the people in charge of organizing the 14th Santo Domingo International Book Fair.

He also thanked the country for inviting the Vatican as the Fair’s guest of honor, and blessed the Dominican children. “This prestigious event will undoubtedly give the opportunity to multitudes of people to appreciate significant examples of the Catholic Church’s literary production and its great contribution to the culture to the Dominican people that is appraised in figures such as that of monsignor Francisco Jose Arnaiz and father Jose Luis Saez to those who the Fair confers an outstanding position.”

The pontiff asked the Almighty to make the Fair bear abundant fruits and at the same time bless the children of the Dominican Republic.

Maybe instead of the Pope blessing the children, we can have the CEO's from MTV, the media at large, and the cell phone companies. If you think the Pope is the heart of the catholic church, you're so blind. The church has survived for too long and it can handle your "enlightened" thinking.
