Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez will start Thursday a 10 day tour of Jordan, Palestine, Israel and France, according to sources quoted by local media, which affirm  that the Head of State will meet with business leaders from those nations interested in investing in his country.

Fernandez will be accompanied by more than 20 officials and guests, in a trip slated to start with a stop in Madrid.

The chief executive will depart on an Iberia flight from the Las Americas International Airport at 5:30 p.m.

He’s expected to return after June 26, when the ruling PLD party, of which he’s also president, will elect its candidate for next year’s presidential elections.

i like these trips and the jobs they produce for many dominicans BUT the problem I have is he hangs around with 20 other waste of sperm dominicans just spening alot of money, when these guys rent rooms in those very fancy hotels those rooms some of them go for thousands a night so when u have 20 low lifes renting those rooms each day it cost taxpayers a good few millones de peso just for that trip.

Look how Madrid was thrown in there at the end, Leo's building partner is in jail for smuggling Caine into spain. How about a list of the coattail riders that are going on this trip as well. I'm sure there is a handful that don't belong on that list.

It would be nice if that plane landed at sea....

Remember back in 1988, the US missle that accidently brought down the Iranian passenger jet with 299 souls aboard. COULD LIGHTNING STRIKE TWICE? I hope not..... although, there is much military activity in that area now. Have a great trip LF.

Traveling the world eating at the best restaurants and staying in the best hotels while the majority of the Dominican population continues to live in poverty struggling each day just to feed themselves. I'm sure that trickle down effect from his world travels will be felt real soon!

Please tell me they are kidding!!!!!!

How could this two-bit banana republic president travel so extravagantly and so frequently? On what grounds could this be justified? I just hope the Palestinians will keep him, for good-for he's no good to us and we don't want him. Maybe they could take abc200 [aka MuchoLoco] as bonus.

Whenever you think this nonsense can't get any more bizarre, this guy ups the ante.
A trip to the Middle East?
Why not visit all the sites Like the pyramids in the new Egypt, the nuclear plants of Iran or the killing fields of Syria?
I am amazed that the Dominican media does not reveal the total absurdity of these missions or that the population doesn't demand his undivided attention to the needs of the country.
I am hearing of many cases of cholera that the clinics are totally unprepared for with care or medicine.
Add that to the economic, social and infrastructure needs......forget about clean water, education, 24 hours of electricity, crime and drugs, corruption and government waste. This idiot and his idiot entourage tour the world.
"Off with their heads!!!!!!" would be a nice chant.

airgordo, i am beginning to think that you have a lot of good sense, after all. i am going to see if i can find the article, or maybe you can tell me where i can see it on the web. yes, there is such a thing in investment known as a cost benefit analysis. i am sure that for all Leonel´s trips have cost this country, the benefits pale in comparison.

thanks for the link. besides, there is no hating on the DR , on my part. some of the things that i write about are the same things which make you angry. if you believe that i am hating when i criticise the need for 10 deputy ministers of sports, then we cannot discuss the plight of the average Dominican.
