Santo Domingo.- UN Program for Development (UNPD) representative Valerie Julliand   affirmed yesterday that the contracts with Human Development Office (HDO) coordinators of the often vocal Miguel Ceara and Pavel Isa weren’t renewed because they broke the rules on public statements which jeopardize that entity’s independence.

Julliand said the decision to terminate the contracts, which expire June 30, was based on "their repeated breach of the rules of conduct related to declarations that could jeopardize the independence and impartiality of this organization." However she didn’t specify the statements.

The UN official affirmed that the HDO continues operating and that "there’s no dismantling, dismemberment, disarticulation or closing as erroneously informed."

Julliand, in a press conference where reporters’ questions weren’t allowed, denied taking the decision on alleged pressures. “Its work (UNPD) doesn’t respond to any particular interests, or economic, partisan parcel, or of any other type."

In a statement yesterday, Isa affirmed that the UN Office "carried out an academic work that sought to contribute to the design of public policies and issues of a political, economic and social nature… The actions of the management of the UNPD in Dominican Republic try to silence those analyses and their publication, and the team wasn’t willing to submit itself to a self-censure."

You are not allowed to criticize the UN or the Church.
Why not? Because you're not!

Criticism can be taken two ways.

1. Realize ones mistake/wrong doing, humble ones self correct it and become a better person because of it.

OR....

2. Play victim, point fingers, deny, make false accusations and ignore it then become self righteousness under man.

Man made religions will use there churches with the support of the UN to help usher in the NWO under the banner "man to better serve man".

"their repeated breach of the rules of conduct related to declarations that could jeopardize the independence and impartiality of this organization."

That's because Dominicans are born with an inbred entitlement mentality. They don’t think twice about and immoral wrong doing.

I am sure when they are asked they say two things
1) We didn't think we were doing anything wrong
2) Everybody does it.

Riosm and gmiller, are you seriously defending these firings. Seems clear to me that the problem was the content of the reports documenting serious problems in Dominican society and governance which was causing embarrassment for the powers that be.

Carpintero

I'm not pervy to all the facts in this case only whats reported.

Since the U.S pays over 90% of the UN's total yearly budget who's money is it anyway ?

Private U.S organizations do more to help foreign country's then the whole UN effort minus all the BS world politics. LESSON NEVER LEARNED.

I'll like to see the total UNPD's yearly budget, mission statement, what percentage of funds go to the cause, documented proof of what a great job there doing, as always it sounds to me more like an embarrassment to the our people which happens to be the people who are suppose to benefit from.

How about a plain.........justification for their existence.
