Paris.– While talking about the measures taken against financial speculation President Leonel Fernandez said in Paris that another global financial crisis like the one of 2008 would have catastrophic effects on humankind.
Referring to the agreement reached by the G20 agriculture ministers about the high costs of food, the Dominican chief executive said this is a very cautious document that recognizes the existence of the problem, but still lacks greater specificity.
"I am with President Sarkozy, who has affirmed on several occasions that this is a problem which deserves to be given priority on the G20 agenda," Fernandez pointed out.
The head of State is accompanied by the First Lady Margarita Cedeño, Foreign
Relations minister Carlos Morales, Press director Rafael Núñez, among
other Dominican officials and business leaders.

He would have a lot more credibility if he managed to solve some of the minor problems at home before going on the world stage to speak of big world problems well outside the scope of his grasp.

So LF if you are so concern follw jamaicas current footsteps.
Eager to avoid unrest over the rising cost of food, several island governments are giving away seedlings and gardening kits while promoting a grow-it-yourself approach, just as the U.S. did during World War I and World War II by encouraging citizens to plant “victory gardens.”

The first thing I note is that LF has taken a real circus with him with numerous officials and Morales and all the usual hanger on brigade ,,,this is typical towards the end of an administration when the leader is not seeking reelection ...but what must be the cost ?? it must be staggering for a poor country such as the DR .
What can LF, as a leader of a poor, corrupt but relatively financially stable country, contribute to the discuusions on world food shortages and a possible economic downturn. Before LF speaks to any minister or leader in any country that minister or leader receives a briefing note from the bureaucracy setting out all the information about the DR and LF ,,I imagine that everyone must know that LF is a very small fish .
It is , in my opinion, very sad to see the good reputation that LF built up with his people by his achievements with all the infrastructure and economic programmes ,being completely lost by his failure to stay in the DR and deal with the problems
