Santo Domingo.- The Justice Ministry, the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) and the National Drugs Council agreed to amend the law on money laundering, as to the amount which each institution is assigned.

The announcement comes after years of often public bickering by the three agencies over the amounts assigned them.

They agreed that 30 percent of the money sized from drug traffickers and other unlawful activities will be allocated to the DNCD, whereas the Justice Ministry the Council will obtain 25 percent each.

Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez provided the information, adding that the non-Government agencies which fight drug consumption will get 15 percent, and the remaining 5 percent for the Sports Ministry. “We’re going to sign, the three, a letter to the National Congress, where we’ve totally settled the differences.”

This article has explained perfectly how the mentality is for government employees. Do they ever think how to help the country by giving the money away to those needy people? to hospital? to education as Telemeco said? or to nonprofit organization? or to have a fund for emergency use?.....

Poor mentality, of course, creates poor country....

Here is the DR transparent corruption Government, what an empty suit LF is. This means that if Government officials are selling drug they cannot be investigated. Now how stupid is this law.

"President Leonel Fernandez passed the Prosecutor General Fundamental Law on Friday. The law creates a new force dubbed the Technical Judicial Police (PTJ).

The new law entrusts the Prosecutor General Office and the new PTJ with criminal investigations, with the exception of crimes involving corruption in government, among others. Prosecutor General Radhames Jimenez Pena said that the new investigative police for the fight against organized crime. It sets to eliminate brutal police coercive measures.

Ok I have to say it the DR deserves the misery it has since you are openly robbed and do nothing about it you keep electing the same openly corrupted representatives. There should be a law that 80% money recovered from illicit activities goes towards education and health care the other 20% to fight crime period.

rainman u say we dont do anything, but the thing is when election comes, leo usually has a good i would say 70 million pesos just to buy people off, i think nowasdays they give u 200 pesos to vote for leo or anybody else, and in some cities they pay off the city officials so they throw out alot of the information from people voting for the opposite party, its a sad reality and this is one of the reasons politicos steal so much money which a good part of it is used to buy people off.

Funny. Agreeing about how to split the money amongst themselves, but when it comes to spending it order to benefit the PEOPLE, it always some lame excuse.

This is exactly how the crooked system works in the gringo country. In fact, each law enforecement agency receives a bonus credit for seizures that result in money confiscation.
