Las Americas, scandalous.
SANTO DOMINGO.- The retired brigadier general who allegedly helped the pop music star Antonio Peter de la Rosa (Omega) sneak by security checks at the Las Americas International Airport fled aboard a flight to a Caribbean island Wednesday afternoon, diariolibre.com reports.
Army general Miguel Antonio Encarnacion de la Rosa placed on retirement last August, boarded Dutch Caribbean Express airline flight 367 to the Lesser Antilles via San Juan, Puerto Rico, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Diariolibre.com added that the retired officer, who faced an investigation in connection with the Omega case, was able leave before the very noses of the security agencies which now probe the widening scandal.

Santiago/Miami,
Interesting situation. I travel on an Official Passport -- and it reads as such -- and I get checked seven (7) times before I can get on the plane, and at least three (3) times before I can clear immigration and customs when arriving in country. Yet this guy cuts a couple records with Pitbull and he gets his own Army to formally receive him upon his arrival in country. These fv(k#r$ need some serious purging. Man -- it's exhausting being Dominican............

few weeks ago i got into sdq, the airport was a little busy at the time i arrive, when checking out {they have security to check the tags on your suitcases} the guy in front of me grabed the hand of the young guy who was one on the people checking the bags to make sure they where leaving with their own bags not some one elses luggage.
i could clearly see this passenger hand him some dollars, i dont know how much and i believe the young fellow taking the bribe or payoff did not know also.
sad this happens this passenger would have had some one elses bags, their could have been drugs or weapons or a bomb in the bags. so for a few dollars this young fellow is selling out his own country.

It's an HONOR being DOMINICAN; I don't feel ashame just because of the bad apples we have, but like I said before: corruption it's not limited to a single country, and I don't need to mention any.

Jim, wonder no more. Drugs usually flow the other way around- South America to DR to PR, Mainland US, Europe, etc.. More likely scenario is money laundering or small arms. I place my bet on dirty currency...

Sooner or later people are going to realize that corruption is like a loyal dog who turns on you. You can pet it, and take care of it all you want, but eventually its going to bite you. It has to stop on ALL levels, otherwise it is just a death dealing cancer that will eventually take over and ruin the lives of many people.
