Santo Domingo.- San Juan province (west) senator Felix Bautista, who’s ‘arm’s length’ attitude with the press has made him one of the most unpopular figures in president Leonel Fernandez’s Administration, Friday said the case of his being mentioned in court by a money laundering defendant is closed.

The lawmaker was mentioned in court by Mery Peláez, charged with forming part of Puerto Rican drug trafficker Jose Figueroa Agosto’s money laundering ring.

Bautista said he has nothing else to say about Peláez affirmation that president Fernandez asked him to open a shell company, and assign government contracts in her favor. “That’s in court, it’s necessary to wait for the sentence to come out, agreed?”

Bautista was also mentioned in the alleged case of corruption involving the construction of buildings in the campus of the Santo Domingo State University UASD, built by the Sun Land company.

I say it's time we re-introduce the firing squad and start executing people from top to bottom. Bautista has to be the first to go, followed by L.F. and his entourage. We need a firm and tough government that can eradicate this kind of behavior in the D.R.
Aren’t there any of Trujillo’s grandsons living in the country. They should be running for office.

hernandez, you are so right, I have been saying that for the past 10 years. The DR is out of control and needs a "Mano Dura" to get things back in order. When you have disgustingly ignorant slobs with extreme wealth gained from corrupt practices, there will come a time when el pueblo will not take it anymore and will revolt. That will come someday, if nothing changes. Those who can leave, have already secured "nest eggs" in foreign countries and can flee at the drop of a hat..

There are three groups of organized crime in the Domincan Republic.
1) The politicians who were voted in by the populos.
2) Military and police.
3) The regular drug cartels.

I would pay to have 5 minutes kicking that little punk Bautista ass.

In a country like our, I totally agree that we need a "mano dura" regime.

Of course its all true. Quite easy to believe. In fact what we dont know would REALLY shock us. Our government has survived on the drug trade for ages. They go after anyone not giving them their share while the big players make these corrupt monkeys rich.

If the US ever realized the war on drugs was a waste of time and legalized and controlled it themselves countries like ours would be in big trouble.Lost revenue from drug transit would bring our economy to its knees.
