SANTO DOMINGO. - The Emergency Operations Center (COE) heightened the flash flood warning for greater Santo Domingo and San Cristobal province, and maintains the rest of the country under alert on relentless downpours from a low pressure system.

At 10 p.m. Monday the COE placed all regions on alert for flash floods, cresting rivers and mudslides.

The National Meteorology Office (Onamet) Tuesday morning forecast continuing showers and thunderstorms nationwide, associated with a cloud mass pushed by southeast-east wind.

It added that the now weakened low pressure system, located in the Windward Passage, is moving toward the Bahamas.
