Santo Domingo.- United States law enforcement agencies have confirmed that Miguel A. Rivera Díaz (Bolo), one of Puerto Rico’s most violent drug traffickers and its most wanted fugitive, uses Dominican Republic for his operations and  as hideout to elude arrest.

Antinarcotics agencies fear Rivera has declared a sort of “open warfare” in the streets of Ponce, by swearing revenge after rival drug distribution groups executed his brother last week. The murder could unleash a major gang war in the streets of Ponce and San Juan at any time.

Intense search

The incident led Federal Marshals Service spokesman Rafael Escobar to announce widening searches to arrest Rivera, and affirmed that the agency knows that he “has been spending long stays in Santo Domingo.”

Armed and dangerous

The authorities say the Puerto Rican fugitive is “extremely dangerous man who uses weapons at any moment and, according to confirmed reports, other heavily armed people always accompany him.

Escobar said Rivera has allegedly distributed at least 2.500 kilos of cocaine in Puerto Rico’s streets thus far, worth around US$40 million. He also faces charges in several murders dating to 1998.

“It’s been always believed that he’s in the south (Puerto Rico). We also know that he’s spent long stays in Santo Domingo and that he has traveled to boxing fights in New York and Las Vegas.”

Rivera is the second Puerto Rican to use the country extensively for his operations, after Jose Figueroa Agosto, now being held in New York.

How come the use of face recognition technology is not being used or acknowledged at US ports of arrival and departure. Casinos in La Vegas and Atlantic City use them to ID undesirables. If the authorities really want to catch these criminals they can. Why is so easy for these fugitves to slip past, money ?

If there was a credible law enforcement agency they would find him. Ask the US to post a reward for his arrest and capture and someone will see him and get a decent payday. There should not be Mexican, Colombian or Puerto Rican drug traffickers on your Island period. Law Enforcement is lacking allowing them to operate with impunity

We live on a very small island . If someone is needed to be found they will be easily. This man has paid off authorities high up. He can do whatever he likes until he runs out of money or the US comes looking for him.

Homeland Security please, you know it's not their job to search out criminals! Their job is to harrass little old men and women at the airport and make them go through full body scans and groping.
