Santo Domingo.- A group calling itself “Anonymous” has announced it would launch an attack on the Dominican government on Monday that could “shake” the economy, as a way of forcing the authorities to change their spending policies and allocate the funds needed for education at all levels. The group posted a video on YouTube with the following warning:

“Anonymous joins the Dominican people’s call. Education is the country’s future. And if it means making the country’s so-called economy tremble, we’re going to do it. The people are not afraid of the government. The government should be afraid of the people. We are Anonymous, we are many, we don’t forgive, wait for us.

“Due to the events that have occurred and the Dominican people’s suffering, Anonymous feels obliged to act. We won’t allow those in power to succeed in imposing their decisions and personal interests, without consulting the inhabitants which of the options is most appropriate. This is why Anonymous has to intervene in the name of an oppressed people”.

It is not known whether Anonymous is the same group that hacked the Dominican Republic Presidency website three weeks ago, in the name of “The People’s Liberation Front” calling for a change in government policies in favor of the poor and an end to corruption.

Hacking ,whether it is on private websites or on government websites, is a completely illegal activity and the bastards that cause the problems should be severely punished .The computer and websites are the modern communication system and must be held secure as was the mail service and public telephone system before it .
Hackers are criminals.

so JimH in his usual aggressive way ,thinks that the DR is like Egypt and Syria ,, Here we have a democracy and freedom and even if we have a government that is far from perfect , at least they were voted in and convincingly ..

haha they voted in now i heard everything, didnt you know people like hipolitop and leonel and every other politician buys their way in? they buy people off which is one way, the other way they throw away alot of the boxes with the voting decision from the other parties, and another way is they buy off the people at the JCE. so this hacking thing will be a good thing so it can be news all around the world and shake up the corrupt gov here in DR.

Nepotism, corruption, physical abuse and many others are also crimes yet no politician has ever been convicted for it in DR. Technology is the only weapon we have unless a revolution takes place. Which lately doesnt sound like a bad idea either.

when will this corrupt newspaper, who will not report any follow up to any corruption storoes, and who is at the bequest of the government follow the potentially biggest case ever to hit the DR. It in Audencia national in Madrid, and is Nunez vs. herrera, Toledono, and Brea (DR), involves hundred of millions of dollars of stolen money from the Dr, and exposes officials at every level of government. They have harrassed this poor woman for whistleblowing, send fake policemaen to arrest her, placing her in hiding under the direction of Hippo's old Directo of security, Pepe Goico. DT is scared to print because of the government's response. This is why I do not write my comments to this pape qas often, they are as corrupt as the pople we all write about. Ricard...you know not what you speak, your voice is that of the fool, and the laugter finds you as well as all those corrupt in government.

Corruptman,
You are correct on your points regarding reporting at DT. However DT is not a real newspaper with reporters.
They copy articles from other newspapers and then print them.
However I do beleive you are correct with your analysis in general. The corruption is so great in the DR that the media has and is being surpressed.

Sure there is freedom of the press in the Domican Republic.
The government owns Listin Diario and the owner of Diario Libre is in jail.
Big god damn freedom the average Domican has.

Yes, LF gave it back BECAUSE Vinicio Castillo is THE LAWYER of the Baez Family, also LF made sure that he has his long standing buddy Mr. Micalo Bermudez IN THE BOARDS of directors, so let all the truth be spoken...how many times the Listin Editorial has attacked any of the goverment stuff??

I have found that Listin Diario reports the best in this country on various events ,,reports rather than comments . The problem I find is that like DT there is seldom any follow up to stories and so we never know if crimes have been solved or not .
But there has been much coverage in the paper about the protest for more money to education and they have shown many photos and they have also printed many stories about apparent corruption of officials .
It depends what you want from a paper..I prefer to have accurate reporting

Riocardolito, neither of the papers on DR never get to conclusion because every day there is another corrupt thing to report, if you want more ACCURACY check on Acento.com.do, DiarioLibre, el caribe and one of the most independent el HOY... i have Tried other options on english as well, like diario Libre english...4% protest will have cover everywhere by truckloads becasue of the massive support it has on the society, if a newspaper don't do it they will simply not sell the paper...

Wait until there is Budget Time again, begining on Octubre and specially november and december...

I saw the web pages he is planning to use on YouTube. His attack is called by using 2 forms : denial of service attack or distributed denial of service attack.

Basically he will attempt to consume the network resources , so the network or it's devices cannot respond to their legitimate request. In one DOS attack , a computer submit numerous request to a server for a service , but does not respond to the server request information.
This request use control message to initialize the connection, called SYN.

This is a large topic. One of his program he want to use is called ByteDOS v.3.2 , the other one is Low orbit Ion Cannon.

The prevention should be the configuration of Routers, Firewalls, DDS base defense, IPS base prevention ( intrusion prevention system),and switches with ACL capabilities, etc. It's a long topic I studied in my Security + certification.
What I dont know if the Dom. Rep. have the capabilities and people well train to track down these teenagers hac

The problem is that the government does not own anything because, everything is owned by the people. If any equipment is destroyed, guess who will pay for it. The people. We shouldn't count on hackers or strikes in order to be heard because we suppose to have a voice in the government and that voice should be represented in the congress and the house of senate by those bastard we voted for.

If the police will not believe you and you know a crime has been committed HACK. Or maybe we should look up to politicians like one in Australia who used his credit card for brothels. Or look upto paedophiles like Cheny and father Bush etc.Off withTHEIR heads.
