SANTO DOMINGO.- An ring formed by current and former employees of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), which allegedly forged birth certificates, was busted, announced National District prosecutor Alejandro Moscoso and JCE president Roberto Rosary, news sources diariolibre.com and eldia.com.do reort.
In a Monday morning press conference, the officials identified the ringleader as the ex JCE employee Felipe Omar Achecar, who was arrested Monday during a search in his residence.
Moscoso also announced the arrest of four employees during a Monday morning search in the Central Office of the Civil Registrar; identified as Nilcia Francisco, Wanda Suero, Eleodoro Smith and Roberto Carrasco.
He said Achecar relied on a group of employees to supplant birth certificates and provide forged cedulas to dozens of people, including criminals.
The DA said the network managed to forge more than 50 birth certificates, many of which led to the issuing of fake cedulas as well. “In the course of the investigation the specific number of forged documents will be determined.”

Are they going to jail?
"gmiller261" -- of course they're not going to jail. Where do you think this happened -- in a functioning, non-corrupt, just society? Come on brother...........
This revelation is just the tip of the iceberg of corrupt government employee practices. It is a good start. However, there is a lot more house cleaning to be performed.
