Ruben Soto Hayet was gunned down in front of his restaurant.
Santo Domingo.- Presidency antinarcotics adviser Marino Vinicio Castillo on Sunday revealed that the Justice Ministry told him of a plan to attack him. “It’s been months ago that I was called by the Justice Minister (Radhamés Jiménez), and the National District Prosecutor (Alejandro Moscoso) to warn me that there was a very serious denunciation in course, the possibility of an attack against me.”
Speaking in his program “La Respuesta” (the answer), the noted attorney said the Justice Ministry has proof, a photo taken of the gate of his house, found in a Blackberry phone seized from one of Puerto Rican drug trafficker Jose Figueroa Agosto’s most dangerous hired killers, now being prosecuted.
“Who believes that they’re going to silence the Castillos through the murders of good people who serve them, they are mistaken, I believe that by doing so with some us couldn’t even silence us, on the contrary, they would have to prepare themselves for a harshening of our attacks, the indication and the accusation, because they’re not going to steal the Republic for crime,” the official warned.
“Narco-politics”
Castillo said he hadn’t spoken about the finding before because he wants to condense all appreciations, so the sectors of the “narco-politics” or “political-narcotics” know that they are their trail, of what they represent, regarding what they have with detainees awaiting trail and of their conversations.
He said 13 charges of dynamite were found in one of the three hired killers now facing prosecution for allegedly murdering the owner of the restaurant La Francesa, Rubén Soto Hayet, but complained that a judge who hears the case considered that it didn’t constitute an example of terrorism.
Castillo noted that if the explosives were to celebrate a birthday or for use as fireworks, they could’ve also been for detonating houses, automobiles and killing good and innocent people. He said that type of treatment of judicial cases is taking the country to perdition.
Death of bodyguard
As to the murder on Tuesday of Air Force first lieutenant Robinson Suárez, bodyguard of his son, the deputy Pelegrín Castillo, the official said the case isn’t closed because they are in the presence of a new serious attack against his family, which will not accept it as chance, and instead premeditation. “I believe that Robinson Suárez was the victim of an ambush, a premeditated attack, without committing an assault against anybody.”

This is where the "gloves come off" when you have the underworld thinking they control government. In a world where even the government is corrupt, the underworld should know their place....
...and please, don't reposte with something as stupid as "The government IS the underworld."...you know better....

Dominican Republic is not Colombia.............11 Million people. Santo Domingo es un patio, everybody know somebody who is doing something illegal, wrong or just plain not right. this fact make it very difficult for know one finding out something in the long run. even in DT someone here have a cousin that work for the goverment or drug cartel, it a matter of time before information leak out.
Colombia have 48 million, a vast country,,here you can get away with with illegal activities but history has shown that it only take a strong man to make this dissapeared (Uribe) DR does not a strong man but eventually the people will demand someone with such skill to clean the house.

stop comparing the DR to every other country in the world,. Every country has problems, every country. It is like comparing yourself to the prettiest girl in the school and you always come up short. The DR is a disater, starting at the top. The government is corrupt, 99% of politicians are corrupt, 99% of judges are corrupt, 99% of the police are corrupt, 99% of business people are corrupt, the President is corrupt, every advisor "minister" is corrupt. The central bank is corrupt and does not have a clue what it is doing. The energy sector is 99% corrupt, drugs, underage drinking, no infrastucture, all these thrive because of corruption. The tourist industry is corrupt, which is why it too, is failing, the agriculture sector is corrupt, which is why it has failed. The cigar business is tied to drugs which is why only foreign owned companies can compete, This is the real DR, and it is dying. Once it is dead, it can start anew, but the people here are afraid and weak and will do nothing
