SANTO DOMINGO. - Madeline Bernard, the widow of colonel Jose A. Gonzalez, gunned down allegedly by hit men of Puerto Rican drug baron Jose Figueroa Agosto, will come face to face with the alleged killers tomorrow, when she testifies in the trial against the gunmen, who left her for dead after seriously injuring her.
Bernard, who’s also charged with laundering money for Figueroa’s network, will take the stand as a prosecution witness in the trial against Gian Enrique Rojas, Yoel Antonio Feliz Medina, José Alberto de la Cruz, Winston Antonio Rodríguez, José Miguel Rodríguez Almonte, José Aníbal Hidalgo, Ricardo Pérez Mateo, Wilhen Ortiz de los Santos and Diómedes Moya Durán.
Last week the National District 4th Collegiate Court subpoenaed Bernard and other witnesses who failed to appear for the hearing.Six prosecution witnesses are expected to testify Wednesday, including Gonzalez’s widow.
The senior Army officer and Bernard were shot several times in front of their apartment in the upscale sector of Bella Vista, in the capital.
