SANTO DOMINGO.- National Police agents early Wednesday arrested four men, a Police sergeant among them, charged with gunning down lieutenant colonel Cesar Augusto Ubrí on Sunday.

The National Police staged a wide sweep to capture the alleged killers, who in a frantic attempt to escape crashed their vehicle into the Armed Forces Ministry’s front gate.

The four men were arrested at 4:00 a.m. and agents seized several weapons, including the shotgun used to murder Ubrí, assistant to National Drugs Control Agency director Rolando Rosado.

Among the detainees figure Police sergeant Wascar Antonio Caballo Montero, a cousin of Army captain Luis R. Cavalo, arrested yesterday with 185 pounds of marijuana.

National Drugs Control Agency spokesman Roberto Lebron said a press conference will be held 11:30 a.m. today to provide the details on the arrest of Ubrí’s alleged assassins.

The suspects reportedly ambushed Ubri and shot him point-blank Sunday night in the Las Praderas sector while driving a Toyota SUV in the company of DNCD Assistant Legal Consultant Yocasta Martinez, who was unharmed.

The DR. is so scary right now, its juts to easy to get gun down. I wana go back home and start a small business; however I'm not sure if I should, it’s really sad. If it was criminal against criminal I would care less, but is not, anybody can get gun down at any time any place for any reason. So sad.

Until they get a handle on corruption crime will flourish. No death penalty and a lack of Police presence allows the country to continue to be a way point for the shipment of drugs. There is virtually no coast guard or navy to watch for drug vessels entering the waters and until recently no Air force. Go to the US and see if the will either station a DEA blimp and fast boats or borrow them. But after the recent arrest of so many military and police for drug smuggling it is very hard to trust the military all this. Order a IRS style investigation into the Generals finances and see who has the money

THE FUTURE OF THE DR. BELOW.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Masked gunmen blocked traffic on a busy avenue in a Gulf of Mexico coastal city Tuesday and dumped the bodies of 35 slaying victims as horrified motorists watched, authorities said.

Veracruz state Attorney General Reynaldo Escobar Perez said the bodies were left piled in two trucks and on the ground of an underpass near a shopping mall in the city of Boca del Rio.

Police had identified seven of the victims so far and all had criminal records for murder, drug dealing, kidnapping and extorsion and were linked to organized crime, Escobar said. He didn't say to what group the victims belonged to.

The Zetas drug cartel has been locked in a bloody war with drug gangs for control of Veracruz, a state along an important route for drugs and Central American migrants heading north.
