Santiago.- A shipment of more than 22 kilos of cocaine was seized in the Santiago International Airport Thursday night before being flown to New York, hidden in vegetables and tubers called yautia, the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) said today.

Airport Security and Customs agents confiscated the drugs in 196 bags of a plant called cundeamor and 81 of yautía, when the container was tested with X-rays.

Rafael Humberto Jiménez, Leudy Ramon Paulino and Luis Manuel Romano were arrested at the Airport in a Daihatsu truck as they transported the drug, packed in La Vega.

they are simply the pawns doing the work, Take the youngest and persuade him to talk and finger the ring leader. The amount seized in the news show the country is very porous and large amounts of cocaine are pouring in. Start shooting a few of these or putting them in a prison so nasty they will becomea priest before going back

Of course there is nothing in this article to confirm these three knew there were drugs in the consignment. They could well have just been contracted to deliver the vegetables to the airport. Logically this would seem the best approach anyway keeping those responsible in the background and someone else tacking the rap if the drugs are found!
