Santo Domingo.- Former Environment minister Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal affirmed Monday that  he asked president Leonel Fernandez to replace him so he can dedicate all his time to the campaign for ruling PLD party presidential candidate Danilo Medina.

He said Medina’s strategy will fight poverty in the entire country that will apply starting August 16 next year. “Danilo Medina is committed to lowering poverty and to obtain, it will use 100 percent of his time.”

The ex vice president, interviewed by Pablo Mackinney on CDN, said Medina would improve the living conditions in poor sectors, just as the Environment Ministry did in Paraíso de Dios that was polluted by lead.

Is this the same person that supported the attempted quarrying operation in los Haises national Park a year or so ago ?? If so Danilo could well do without his type of support

Los Haitises? hmmn. But it is the same Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal that wanted the Barrick Gold contract revised, and wanted them to also do the clean-up after - which I have no idea how that ended.

We (RD) are just 2 elections away from becoming haiti. lest we wake up the population, which
is gonna be difficult when they are more and more of haitian descent,,can you say catch 22?

everyone always says that theyre going to fight poverty and get rid of it and all sorts of magical tricks. but i just never hear how its gonna be done, GOV will and has never ended poverty. but one thing GOV's can offer is opportunity. the opportunity to work. not GOV jobs but the self will to go out and search for your trade to make a profit. get rid of taxes and regulations that put a burden to growth. do that and watch how business will invest into a country. that will result in job growth for the people living in poverty
