Santo Domingo.- The U.S. Embassy will help the Emergency Operations Center develop and improve its search and rescue capacity, through technical training and equipment provided directly by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

The agreement signed Thursday by American ambassador Raul Yzaguirre and COE director Juan Manuel Mendez aims to bolster the ability to search and rescue in urban areas, as well as develop rescue capacities in collapsed structures. It will also support Dominican agencies with technical measures to coordinate and improve urban search and rescue sites.

Yzaguirre said that while it was difficult to place a figure on the cooperation, the Embassy will do everything needed to support Dominican Republic in emergency situations.

He also hailed the work carried out by the first responders and congratulated to Méndez and his team, citing their professionalism demonstrated during and in the wake of natural disasters.

Yea Danny, but, that's personal stuff purchased with stolen monies that belongs to the state.

USAID and every other organisation have to suggest or donate equipment and knowledge, the way the government spends cash you would think its well prepared for whatever it's called upon. These thieves(leonel included) don't realize that everyone is watching and not all live in DR.
