SANTO DOMINGO.- The National Control Drugs Agency (DNCD) arrested a National Police (PN) captain and four others Thursday night, accused of forming part of a drug trafficking network which sent heroin to Puerto Rico.

It said it seized 479 ready-to-ingest heroin capsules from the ring headed by the Police official, and identified the detainees as PN captain Luis Elpidio Rodriguez, whose commission was immediately cancelled by the Executive Branch; his brother Jose Alberto Rodriguez, Jose Luis Peña  Hernandez, as well as the cousins Hilda Miguelina Pinales and Carolina Pinales Pereyra.

In a statement the DNCD added that the “group’s arrest was made possible after a work of follow up began on the group’s actions, mainly after sharing information with the DEA (US Drug Enforcement Administration),” regarding the alleged traffickers’ activities.

RobertoJose,
As Leo's term is almost over, maybe there will be a mass of unpopular pardons?

It's interesting how in most of recent busts, the DEA played an active role.

Looks like the principal's in the schoolyard now, boys.

"I never leave my dad come alone." I always come with him, because I've seen many old people being cheated. They take away a large part of their check and also put them to sign for two loans. "Afterwards when they come to get their monthly check they don’t understand why their check has been reduced so much".

no no Roy Stone it does not go that way and after the enormous protest 3 or 4 years ago when LF added just one name to the list of those to be pardoned, the entire advisory board for presidential pardons resigned.I think LF learned his lesson there and he does not want to be remembered too unfondly ,,,he still has other ambitions

They should be forced to injest them--via either end--and made to wait until the burst inside their bodies--thier demise will be similar to what boric acid does to cockroaches, which is what these DR LAW ENFORCEMENT types are.....asking for propinas during the holidays, robbing people and running drugs--there's not an honest one in the bunch

YET....another

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was arrested on narcotics smuggling charges, but the feds refused to release his name, a spokesman told CNN.

The agent was arrested after two other Border Patrol agents on Monday were patrolling along the U.S.-Mexico border and saw the suspect agent with "numerous bundles of marijuana inside a marked Border Patrol truck," Quillin said in a statement

Ricardolito,
Perhaps things have changed since then. Leo is not seeking re-election and seems to be more interested in building his international reputation than his domestic one. If the PLD owes favors to any of these criminals, he can afford to be the scape-goat for the party, saving their public face while meeting their covert obligations.
