Santo Domingo.– The Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC) will meet on Sunday with two of its highest governing bodies, the National Policy Committee (NPC) and the Executive Committee (EC), to set the path to the May 20 presidential elections.
According to PRSC General Secretary Ramon Rogelio Genao, the party's president Carlos Morales Troncoso will lead two sessions at the Hotel Hamaca, in Boca Chica.
Both sessions will meet the four resolutions adopted by the Permanent Presidential Commission (CPC) at its meeting on December 19 and discuss other decisions under the terms established by the statute of the party aimed at the upcoming electoral process.
Among these resolutions is the financial report of the PRSC, grant extraordinary powers to the PRSC president, the near future of the political entity and present Johnny Jones as a candidate for secretary general of the Dominican Municipal League (LMD).

Talking about political parties, recently a new friend sent me an email stating they like my commentaries but want to remind me that it was not only the PLD and their candidates that are corrupt and that in fact it was a Malady all over Latin America. They also pointed out that a disproportionate amount of control is exercised by the US in DR and much of the Caribbean as well.
Frankly, I agree with those statements and felt I need to share with him why I focus SO MUCH on the PLD and not on the other rotten apples in the Dominican political basket. When I began to respond to his gracious note I thought maybe I could humbly share this with all DT posters because maybe others have a similar view on my admittedly disproportionate attacks on Lie-onel and the PLD.
The response to my new friend and others;
I agree with you that corruption is worldwide phenomenon.

However, my focus on the PLD is because they are currently in power and virtually control all three branches of the Dominican government. Their alliance with traditional power elites in DR who control the dissemination of political opinion by their overwhelming control of media outlets make them as or maybe even more dangerous than Trujillo’s or Balguer’s reign.
They have coopted the public’s imagination with a smooth talking charlatan, Lie-onel Fernandez and modernistic Madison Avenue political marketing to give the false image that they are vastly superior than all those that have come before them. The public because of their desperation for real change that began with the assassination of Trujillo on May 30, 1961and ended with the overthrow of Juan Bosch on September 25, 1963, bought into the hope that PLD offered by the use of the progressive rhetoric of its founder although the practice was no better than the PRSC or the PRD.

It was easy to confuse the public and obfuscate their real intent because our historical dismal education system does not allow for the general public to develop critical analytical or thinking skills and since in 1996 the PLD had no record of governance to compare their words to their record, we fell for their lies hook, line and sinker. In 2004 because of the poor execution of the PRD’s 4 years, regardless of the factors, the public sort of gave the PLD the benefit of the doubt, thinking that may they would do better than 1996-2000 because now they had experience. However, we now come to the realization that the PLD was taken over ideologically by the PRSC with Lie-onel public calling himself Balaguerista and the experience they have acquired has been in the area of maintaining the status-quo for corruption so government continues the traditional methods of governance that allow for the illegal enrichment of those who control it.

Now in 2012 the PLD is not the cute innocent baby of 1996!
It’s a full grown adult and has a track record and it’s no better than those they use to criticize and in many, many areas it is even worse. Lie-onel has even declared himself a Vinchista and has Vincho in a prominent DO NOTHING position in his government.
So as the saying goes” from those that much has been given, much is expected:”
The PLD Cadre was given educational opportunities, the mentoring of Juan Bosch and a modern politically disciplined organization and they have done NOTHING with those resources for the vast majority of the Dominican people. They took their education, the mentoring of Juan Bosch and the party and parlayed them into tools for illicit self-enrichment.
So I, as many more and more Dominicans are coming to realize every day, Lie-onel and the PLD WERE GIVEN MUCH AND WE EXPECTED MUCH IN RETURN and they failed for ALL but themselves and the party’s elite “leadership.”

You may be speaking for yourself in some type of justification that you feel is necessary ,,but you have no authority to speak for the Dominican people which I doubt you have much contact with from your overseas location.
In fact based on the throngs of people suporting the PLD today outside Mega cenreo and in Villa Mella and based on the polls which I admit are dubious.it would seem the people are not at all hard on the PLD anymore than they are hard on the PRD who are in control in somel cities

Oh but you do from the perch of your isolated METROLANDIA fantasy life by rubbing elbows with the rich and infamous playing golf. You’re the real man of the common people.
I have never claimed to havie any authority. Just the freedom of speech and the right to have a opinion like anybody else in a DEMOCRACY, if its ok with you!
I bet I have a better feel for what’s going on in the republic with my 7 to 9 trips a year interacting with the common every day folk all over the country; in addition to not drinking the purple Kool-Aid!
While you on the other hand have much more scientific method I see:

Even you admit the polls are bogus but that doesn’t stop you from interjecting them.

Josean,
All your talk might be interesting IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE INCONVENIENT FACT THAT IT WAS JUAN BOSCH himself who helped orchestrate the deal with Balaguer, En 1994, la firma del "Pacto por la Democracia" with the PRSC, and in fact it was Juan Bosch himself who turned into a NEO-LIBREISTA in his final political re-articulation.
"By the 1990 election, how- ever, Bosch had jettisoned what remained of his radicalism to become a born-again neo-liberal and champion of privatisation. He stood for the last time in 1994, but was forced into third place by his former PRD lieutenant, the charismatic Pena Gomez."
