Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) on Tuesday confirmed it questions several people in connection with the 52 packages of cocaine seized in Philadelphia and shipped from Dominican Republic, but denied that the Drugs Enforcement Administration (DEA) interrogates private workers or its agent assigned to Las Americas International Airport (AILA).

“It’s true that three bags with that drug were seized, but not the version that the DEA interrogates anybody here, because neither that agency nor any other has the faculty to conduct investigations. The DEA only has faculty to advise us regarding drugs seized and to investigate in such a situation,” said DNCD president Rolando Rosado Mateo.

In a statement the official’s reaction comes in the heels of media reports that DNCD agents are being interrogated by U.S. agencies, just one day after the drug was found aboard a U.S. Airways flight in Philadelphia.

“The DNCD determined that it was the employees which provide services to U.S. Airways that made the arrangements to send the drug by changing the baggage tickers on the suitcases where the packages were found,” the official said.

Rosado added that the case led to an investigation of several workers, among them one identified as Alexander Pichardo Jiménez, being held in the DNCD, while others could be detained at any time to determine any link to the drug trafficking operation. “Officials of the DNCD, Armed Forces Intelligence (J-2) and the Airport Security Corp (CESA) head the investigation, not the DEA, as has been published in an erroneous or misleading manner.”

The DNCD agents might not be interrogated, but can be interviewed.

The usual: denial, cancellation of officers, maybe a few scapegoats and.. nothing.

sounds like a very petty and stupid squabble between the National Drugs Control Agency and the Drugs Enforcement Agency ...no body cares if the DEA got a false credit as long as DNCD and Airport Security Force get to the bottom of it and find the people responsible for changing the lables and for erasing the security tape and then put the cleaners through the security at the airport so that all security staff have impecable records and know the penalty for corruption is life in prison. How can the cameras be so easily tampered with ..are the drug lords threatening families of airport workers as well as bribing ??

If he was involved why would he move it through commercial aircraft?
It makes no sense and looks more like a group of airport workers that are involved on both sides.
Some is going to be pissed!

According to an article in the New York Times that first revealed the DEA money-laundering scheme to the public, U.S. drug agents supervised by the Justice Department likely laundered hundreds of millions in illegal profits — maybe more.

The DEA and other agencies also helped send the illicit cash back across the border to Mexico in operations “orchestrated to get around sovereignty restrictions,” the Times reported in the article, headlined "U.S. Agents Launder Mexican Profits of Drug Cartels."

The operations, which drug officials said had the support and cooperation of the Mexican government, have funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars across borders and moved millions more through shell accounts to help American agents identify how criminal organizations move their money, where they keep their assets and who their leaders are.

Critics said the operations blur the line between surveillance and facilitating crime, raising questions similar to those around a gun-smuggling operation known as Fast and Furious that involves agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“not the version that the DEA interrogates anybody here, because neither that agency nor any other has the faculty to conduct investigations. The DEA only has faculty to advise us regarding drugs seized and to investigate in such a situation,” said DNCD president Rolando Rosado Mateo.”

With all due respect to DNCD president Rolando Rosado Mateo similar statements like those were made by the General Manuel Noriega the former president of Panama before the 82nd Airborne sent a “moto-concho” to transport him to Miami.

In case Mr. Rosado has not been keeping up with the news since September 11, 2001 the United States has expanded its laws and enacted new ones giving it even broader powers to extend its transnational reach to monitor, investigate and take action when it feels it vital national interests are threatened.

So your bravado statements for the locals are one thing but I am sure that to the DEA and other federal agencies they don’t amount to a hill of beans.

This is what happens to the honest officers in the Dominican Armed Forces:

If these two stories don’t make your blood boil with indignation nothing will!

“They commit injustice against a decent military who fought drug trafficking”

'As a result of this injustice Nativity Minaya Encarnación lives with threats and is prevented from obtaining decent employment"

"SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.-the Lady Nativity Minaya Encarnación, a Navy officer assigned to airport security at Las Americas never thought by seizing a shipment of drugs she would receive a dishonorable discharge for allegedly violating laws and regulations of the armed forces."

To add insult to injury:

“Former officer Nativity Minaya Encarnación asks that an injustice be corrected”

“Ironically, Colonel that was arrested for drugs a month later turned out to be Albert Smith Peña, the immediate boss of the former officer Nativity Minaya Encarnación, who ordered the transfer of the officer off the x-ray machine at Las Americas to the headquarters of CESA where sje remained without duties until she was fired.”

In other White Wash News to see if we can get the DEA of our butts:

“They recommend cancellation and forced withdrawal of several officers and enlisted police”

"SANTO DOMINGO ( Dominican Republic).-The senior police council recommended to the Executive Branch the cancellation, forced retirement and disciplinary action against 20 members of this institution, including captains, lieutenants and enlisted for committing of acts prohibited within their standards, including drug trafficking and extortion activities."
