President Fernandez needs to fix local problems before global ones.
Santo Domingo.- For DT readers, the most important issue to deal with this year is to push the authorities toward honest management in government and in the handling of taxpayers’ money.
Of the 477 total votes cast in the weekly poll, “What's most important for Dominicans in 2012?,” the response “Push the authorities toward honesty resulted with 189 votes, or 40%, barely edging out “Work harder, talk less,” with 188 votes or 39%.
In third place was the response “Tie everything down, storm's coming,” with 67 votes, or 14% of the readers felt it was most important, and “Avert the world economic mess” had 33 votes, or 7% of the readers who took part in the unscientific survey.

One has to ask....how long must one wait until one acts turning words into action ? Especially when the problems are in your face and can no longer be ignored.
I'm reminded "Real leaders lead by example", "Real leaders turn others into leaders" and "Leadership can not be owned by one".

From: Dominican Republic, I dislike all politicians and their afiliated parties... "I simply say it AS IT IS!!"
There are dark forces within the president circle that control that circle and another circle within another cirlce that controls n circles.
If not ask the U.S government...

In other pushes towards honesty;
Well let’s see how young National District prosecutor Yenny Berenice Reynoso handles this one?
"Ex prosecutor Josefina Juan assures the Government ordered the failed assassination of son Remberto"
"My son Juan Pichardo Remberto, as everyone knows, was victim of a cowardly attack at eight in the evening, for his fight against corruption." I'm here as a mother, as a lawyer and as a citizen. I support unreservedly my son in all his initiatives. "If all Dominicans were like my son and all the people who are gathered here we would not have come to the levels of corruption of the current Government, because corruption has spilled over to inconceivable limits," she said.

I think it must be time for Lie-onel to plan another do nothing trip out of the country:
"Group of citizens will file suit against President Leonel Fernandez"
"They demand that the President remove Hotoniel Bonilla"
"Citizens said that they made the submission so that "the first public employee, the President complies with the Constitution" and applies sanctions "to Mr Hotoniel Bonilla García", who serves as director of persecution of administrative corruption (DPCA)."
"We have raised a remedy for compliance against the President of the Republic and to be heard on Thursday January 19 in the higher administrative court, with the aim of getting him to comply with the Constitution and implement this demand of ordering the cancellation or removal of man who has the responsibility to ensure the fight against corruption and has not done", said Julio César Tiburcio."

“Push the authorities toward honesty”... Never happen.
Dominicans are inbred with an entitlement mentality. They see NOTHING wrong with their transparent corruption and are completely shameless.

The Dominican Tragedy!!! Shamelessly CORRUPTED... It is easy to wonder about the definition of dictatorship. The president worrying about global problems when the Dominican people are turning into globe themselves due to scarcity of food and main necessities. It is appalling to read and see day after day such a corruption in Dominican government and no accountability. A few growing their pockets larger and larger while a mayority growing hunger at rampant speed. American intervention, well, can it get any larger? It seems that pretty soon the Dominican flag is coming down to allow room to the Star Spangle Banner. RIP Dominican Republic.

“Electricity sector loses a billion to deviations”
Boy if that’s not a Freudian slip, I never heard one!
"The Electricity Superintendent, engineer Juan Bautista Gomez, estimated yesterday that more than RD$1,000 million worth of electricity was lost last year because of energy 'deviations' in the electric market. As an example, he said that in just one week in August the losses generated by the system because of these deviations was RD$35 million."
"He explained that these deviations happen when the generators undertake to provide a certain amount of energy and then cannot deliver it, so they have to buy electricity at higher prices in order to meet the demand. The other type of deviation is the reverse when they produce too much and cannot take it back because they do not need it, or for another reason such as a circuit failure."

"At a press conference yesterday, Bautista said: "These deviations have an economic impact on the Dominican electricity system because the more deviations there are the more the price of energy will increase."
"He said that in order to prevent these deviations the Superintendence had enacted a resolution that established compensation to be paid by those who caused the deviations in the electricity system. In the last few days the business sectors including the Dominican Republic Industrial Association have rejected this compensation, saying that it unjustly penalizes the unregulated users (those who can contract energy directly with the generators), most of whom belong to the industrial sector."
