SANTO DOMINGO. - The Catholic Church yesterday blamed the rampant corruption and the politicians’ mediocrity, for the nation’s moral crisis, generalized violence, especially against woman and the family, the uncertainty of wages and basic services.

In its pastoral letter to mark the Virgin of La Altagracia celebrations of January 21, the Dominican Episcopal Conference (CED) reiterated its commitment to contribute so Dominicans to have a morally healthier, fraternal, lawful and equitable nation.

For the bishops, more than the economic, financial and political crisis, what most concerns humanity is the moral and human crisis, stemming from the great social ills that destroy the family and social coexistence.

“As priests and bishops, what concerns us is that this moral and human crisis has been taking root in the national soul, originating an increasing wave of violence and social decomposition,” said Santo Domingo archbishop and CED president cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez, who read the document.

Given that many celibate priests have been found to be raping children creating molestation issues throughout the world, is it possible that some priests in the DR are also guilty and have little moral capacity to comment on government corruption?

That said, the faithful in the church have no choice but to protect children and the weak and to share the love of Jesus at every opportunity.

Nice coming from the kings of extortion... the Catholic church... extorting money from the needy, building houses of worship that in no way are anything like the teachings of the book they don't seem to understand...

Woow a letter..... that will show then... that will make them shake in their boots... that's going to make all that are doing wrong stop and give everything back.... bulls&#$t!!!!!!

Don't they know the Bible? No need to write a letter, just pray to Jesus and it will happen!

"And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen. "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." "
Matthew 21:21-22

"Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him. Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.

From: United States, Dedicating 4 more years to fighting the Dictatorship of the Narco PLD Mafia

After they have ridden and benefited from the 12 year voyage of corruption on the Naro PLD’s ship with a Pirate Captain at the helm, Lie-onel Fernandez, now the Pedophile Rats want to jump ship before the 82nd Airborne comes and does a Noriega style extraction of the cancer.

It the church really wants te send a message, is to disinvite the politicians to the mass at the basilica, or even worse make them sit at the rear of the church and deny them communion.

These hypocrits are duly responsible for the terrible situation in DR. When these guys preach at every possible moment that all dominicans should use contraceptions whenever having sex without the intentions of having babys or being able to provide for babys, they may have a saying.
When these hypocrits show up in front of the national Palace every day leading a protest march to demand changes, they may have a saying. Otherwise, just shut the f...ck up and go fluck yourself, you are nothing but a waste of human flesh.

This is a predominantly Catholic county yet so far all the comments on this article have been critical of these hypocrites. Is this a positive sign for this country, or is it being take over by the Evangelists? Out of the frying-pan, into the fire? The current Pope and the Vatican now acknowledge Evolution as irrefutable scientific fact. The Evangelists on the other hand, are sticking with the talking-snake story.

as above, if they truly think things need to be do about these problem then they should be rallying the 'flock" and marching every day of the week on government buildings instead of praying and writing a letter to hope for change... Get of your blotted asses and make a difference, do just talk about it........
Ban all politicians from their churches that don't take up action against corruption and stand behind the ones that do....

Perhaps they know something we don't?

Throughout history, the Catholic Church has been in bed with tyrannical dictatorships and the oppressive ruling classes, until they are about to be toppled. Then they hop on the band-wagon with the revolutionaries and claim credit for any humanitarian reforms achieved. They supported European royalty, the Conquistadors, slavery, oppression of women, Hitler and Trujillo, then claimed credit for their demise. They have successfully played this game far longer than any secular regime has held power.

Also they have so much real-estate, art treasures and investments in secular businesses like banking, retail and even manufacture, they don't need the religion industry, other than to maintain their tax-exempt status and diplomatic-immunity from prosecution around the world. The biggest, richest multinational corporation, accountable to no-one.

Think about it.

Be aware that if you do not observe the holiday this Saturday, in honor of Virgin of La Altagracia, you are in breach of Dominican Law, as a consequence of the Concordat still in force between the Dominican Republic Government and the Roman Catholic Holy See, signed by His Excellency Dr. Generalissimo Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina and His Holiness Pope Pius XII (Hitler's Pope) in 1954.

I suggest you download and say the prayer the Church wrote for you, in Latin, to bless this Concordat.
Amen.
