Santo Domingo.-  While 63% of  the people polled by Penn, Schoen & Berland say the country is not headed in the right direction, 52% are satisfied with the Government’s efforts, a contradiction likely stemming from the current campaign leading to the May presidential elections.

The poll conducted for the media Group SIN also found a contradiction on what many say on government corruption, with a mere 6% calling it a pressing problem.

For 26% of the Dominicans asked, inflation and the cost of living are the most important problems; 24% said crime;18% mentioned unemployment, 8% cited deficient education and for a mere 6% it’s government corruption, with drugs and the blackouts tied at 4%.

The survey also found that 74% say the Dominican economy is also not headed in the right direction, but 33% feel the opposite.

Who paid for for the survey? What was the sample size? Was it randomized?

? ? ?

Only 6% believe corruption is a problem?
Only 8% believe education is a problem?

Did they go to another country to ask people over there what they thought about DR problems?

Of course 52% thinks that the Government is doing a Good job.

I am sure if one was to check you would find that around 52% of the population gets major assistance of salary from the Government in one for or the other.

Entitlement mentality.

lovingit,
It does not mean that 94% do not think corruption is a problem, it means they rated something else as a more important problem. With so many serious problems, it is hard to priorities - like choosing between electric-chair, hanging, firing-squad or lethal injection. The low rating for education does not surprise me at all.

lovingit is on the ball today. yes, when only 8% think education is the major problem, it seems to buttress the point made by RoyStone and myself, regarding the importance people here put on education. that probably explains why, as Roy said, a protest march for more education funds can be staged in a phone booth.

Their figures don't even add up. Shame on the person who tranlated. 74% say economy is headed in the right track. and 33% say it isn't? Guess the poll is just like the votes here. 107% of the people?

for a guy who is so quick to be rude and discourteous, you are not really too bright. has it ever dawned on your vaunted intelligence that there might very well be pranksters , who voted both ways?

This is a TAILOR MADE "poll" for the Purple Ones and is devoid of any connection to the reality on the Dominican street!

Remember Mark Peen is the reason we have Hillary Clinton as President Barrack Obama as Secretary of State!

As I said before:

Mark Penn is mercenary that has no allegiance to anything but money just like Lie-onel Fernandez and the PLD. If the PRD hires him tomorrow the numbers would be the inverse.

Also his Dominican representative Bernardo Vega is reported to be a close personal friend of Lie-onel and recently was on 10 day foreign trip with his majesty with all expenses paid by the Dominican taxpayers.

So I would not put too much trust in any of these polls that are PRODUCED by either the PRD or PLD. They are nothing more than very expensive Smoke and Mirrors!

Hillary, I believe still owes him money and will probably never pay the lying bastard."

Guillermo Moreno: Political system is perverted

Minority candidate Guillermo Moreno said last night that a vote for one of the candidates of the traditional parties just consolidates a perverted political system. As reported in El Caribe, the former prosecutor now running for Alianza Pais said that this is an obstacle to the country changing by democratic vote. He said that Hipolito Mejia, Danilo Medina and President Leonel Fernandez have been in power for 16 years, keeping a strong grip on the state. In his judgment, none has the moral authority to lead the nation for another minute. He said that there is neither separation nor independence of branches of government in the Dominican Republic because "they are all subject to the control of the leadership of a single party and subordinated to the personal project of President Leonel Fernandez."

Here is a more thorough analysis of the poll

“The rise of Danilo Medina in the last survey Penn, Schoen & Berland”

“The conflict surrounding the President of the white party and its presidential candidate, stemming from the primary election does not subtract votes in majority of the perredeísta, as indicated by surveys”
