Santiago. - Dominican authorities received what was left of a tractor-trailer which was torched by a mob of Haitians and its driver kidnapped in Fort Liberte, northwest Haiti.

For his part Haitian President Michell Martelly issued an apology and pledged to pay for the damages

The truck’s owner Jorge Peña said his son, David Pena, was driving the truck empty from Cap Haitien to the Fort Liberte, where he was held against his will.

Peña said around 20 Haitians taking part in a protest on Monday, pulled his son out of the vehicle, locked him in a house, and then returned to tell him the truck had been burned.

The truck’s wreckage was taken to the Dominican border town of Dajabón.

Biting the hand that feeds you.

I'd sure like to hear more details as to why this happened.

This certainly supports my decision not to send any trucks from my fleet to Haiti.

Hey, that's a stereotypical Haitian answer, isn't it? You must be the Ask for More Foreign Aid public relations director, right? Posting comments from a safe modern comfortable country.

Does anyone know the motive? Did the driver refuse to take a truckload of them to Santo Domingo?

This article is so funny! I am going to keep this information and share this information with my coworkers. Yes, King is correct about Dominicans’ criminals robbing a Haitian official. However, we cannot compare this with the Dominicans’ criminals because the Haitians’ criminals seem to be gangsters. I am laughing so hard. Please correct if I am wrong, they transported the broke down truck back to the D.R., LOL! FYI, I do not think this article make Haitians look bad. It made the other party stupid by accepting the broke down truck. Also, the D.R’s government thinks that the Haitian’s government is going to pay them back. They are even more stupid!!!!!! LMAO! The Haitian’s government has to use all their money for their earthquake victims. I have a feeling that the Haitian’s president laughing so hard at this mess too.

Stop picking on Haitians!
They innocently thought the truck was a tree and were making charcoal to cook for their starving families.

Haiti, while you're at it, how about paying back for all the medical care that our country has provided for all your pregnant women. We desperately need that money right now.
