Santo Domingo.-  A trough still influences Dominican territory, with scattered showers, thunderstorms and occasional gusts of wind for the North, Northeast, Southeast, Central and Mountains and border zone.

The Meteorology Office (Onamet) on Tuesday said the surf along the north, northeast and eastern coasts is returning to normal, with no advisories for small craft in effect, but shouldn’t venture out to sea, where Tropical Storm Rafael unleashes strong winds and higher than normal waves.

It forecasts downpours with thunderstorms for Wednesday and Thursday over much of the island, more frequent in the Central Mountains and border area.
