Santo Domingo.- Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez on Tuesday said he agrees with launching an an investigation into the government officials found to responsible for causing the country's fiscal deficit.
The prelate’s statement comes one day after several civil society groups made the same call, and just hours after Justice minister Francisco Dominguez called the demand for investigations “baseless.”
Lopez noted that while it’s possible that the country's economic tailspin of 2003 could’ve influenced the current economic situation, there may be other causes and they must be investigated and punished.

Amnesty for voluntary return of ill-gotten wealth. 10 years in "La Victoria" for all others, plus confiscation of property and bank accounts; plus a direct request to US government for visa revocation, where applicable. Darn, that would be nice and just, too.
